Should you pray for personal things like a new car, house, or whatever like more money?
Or, should you only pray for sugar and spice and everything nice?

No, it's not to be used for bad things. You shouldn't pray to bring harm to others or yourself. That's not what God is about. You can pray for material possessions if they are needed...money to feed you and your family and buy the necessities of life, a car to get you to work or whatever you'd need it for, a house to give you shelter, etc. Pray for whatever you need. God is always listening. Just remember that sometimes no answer is an answer, and sometimes not getting it right away doesn't necessarily mean that you won't get it. You just have to have faith.

Prayer for things is best when the things are for selfless reasons. For example, let's say your destitute younger brother needed a new car; if you prayed and asked God to help you find a way to get him that new car, that would be selfless. If you yourself need a new car, it is perfectly alright to ask God to provide you with a new car, but He will know if you really need it or if you just want it very badly. You can't pray for bad things to happen and actually expect God to cause a bad thing to occur. That's not what He does.

It's been used many times to ask for bad things to happen in the name of a greater good (in the eyes of the asker). Like asking to win a battle or smite enemies and stuff. You can pray for anything you want to pray for. Just do it silently so you don't start a stampede.

Prayers like what you mentioned sometimes come to you when you pray it aloud to the listening ear of someone who loves you so much and have the means to spoil you. Without that someone, your prayer have to be for God to ask you to have the wisdom to make your yourself healthy, intelligent and industrious enough to work and earn to have something to save for all those things you want to have in life. While your earning is not enough, be content only for the wishful thinking but keep moving to achieve your goal.

Why would want to pray for bad things to happen? This world we live in is already in deep hot water. If you're having financial troubles, yes you can pray to get out of debt, but it must be according to God's will.

Pray can be used anyway you wish. I personally believe that you should not ask for bad things to happen to anyone no matter what they have done. Both of my children were hurt by someone under my Ex-husbands care (His weekend to have them). My ex-husband beat me and I never wish bad things on either one of these people. It is because Karma is more powerful than I. It will come back on them X 3. Blessings

You should not pray for 'stuff' you should work for stuff. We spend most of our prayer time trying to ask for what we want. We should never have the audacity to as God for something bad--that's putting Him or Her into your category. Just pray to say hello--God knows how great and wonderful He or She is.

You should pray only "If it be God's will" and never pray for bad things to happen as God may decide to allow these things to happen to you.

You can pray for anything you want. God likes for you to pray. He already knows what's in your heart but he likes to hear you say it and he will give you what you want if you ask for it. Just be careful what you ask for. God is not Santa Claus.
