Just keep her away from males, or you will end up with an unwanted pregnancy. Females can also suffer mood swings during their season, so any unnecessary stress should be avoided and make sure everybody gives her plenty of peace. Don't let anybody annoy her in any way. Also watch out for the signs of phantom pregnancy after her season. These include panting, restlessness, swollen mammary glands (teats) production of milk, loss of appetite and constant digging. You may need to see a vet if these symptoms occur, phantom pregnancies are a nasty business. My great dane gets them all the time, but we can't get her dressed now because of other health problems and her age. Females are best getting dressed as young as possible, as undressed b*tches are prone to womb infections which can be fatal.

No dont leave it alone. Shes just in heat-no big deal. Put a pet diaper on it and dont let it outside unless you want her to have puppies. She can be spayed as soon as she is out of heat. Dont even walk her. Every male in the neighborhood will come running. They almost go into a frenzy when they smell her. I took my dog for a walk and 3 huge dogs were trying to get at her. We stayed in after that til she was finished and spayed. m

Just keep her away from male dogs if you don't want pups.

At this point, male dogs will stop at nothing to get to her... when I was younger, we had an un-spayed female dog who stayed outside in a kennel... a big male dog somehow managed to climb the fence and get her pregnant. We found them both in there the next morning; he couldn't get back out.

She'll bleed a bit; I'm sure you know that. As other people have said, you can get "doggie diapers" and you can also get sort of a little garter belt that holds a pad. Keep towels over any furniture she might get on.

Yep, only the girls come into heat! Just kidding. First of all, she should probably have already been spayed. Now you need to make sure she is not bred by the males. Keep her inside and watch her carefully when you let her out to go potty.

Unless you want puppies, keep her away from any male dogs for about 3 weeks! And if you don't want spots of blood all over your house, get her some doggie diapers! If you REALLY don't ever want any puppies, invest in getting her spayed. Then you can avoid worrying about heats.

theres not much you can really do about it for now. she ll be in heat for roughly 3weeks. never leave her alone in your garden/yard and keep her away from male dogs so that she doesnt become pregnant. speak to your vet and book her in to be spayed which cant be done untill a few months time.

Yes, you should leave her alone. If you want puppies let her run outside free (sarcasm.) She'll get over it, oh I hope you don't mind but male dogs should be showing up soon...

You can get diapers made just for her size at your pet supply shop. Keep her away from all males, and have her spayed as soon as the vet will do it, so she doesn't have to stress through this any more..she will love you forever for it!
