If you are enlisting, the highest you can come in as is E-3. The only negotiating you can do with this is if you choose to take the extra stripes or start off with none. The only way to start as an officer is to attend and of the Military Academies. Other than that you will have to start as an Enlisted and go through OCS if you get the chance.

You cannot recieve a commission as an officer in any branch of military service (excluding warrant officer) without the reciept of a Bachelor's Degree. Furthermore, you must undergo training through either OCS or another college based military training program, i.e. ROTC. You can be started at a higher enlisted rank with college background, however. Speak with your recruiter about MOS/Rate information. Usually the more technical the job the higher the starting rate. Good luck!

E3, in rare cases, E4(mostly Army).
you can apply for OCS/OTS with a degree in hand. Youwill be paid as an E5 during OCS/OTS and will be commissioned as an O1 upon completeion. HOWEVER. what Branch you are looking at as well as what degree and GPA will play a HUGE factor.
Navy, and AF, for instance, are looking for 3.5 or better GPAs in Hard sciences like Math, Comp Sci, Engineering, and Physics. The Army and Marines are in more need, so they are being more lenient about which degrees they consider competetive.
Right now, the Army is accepting close to 100% of all qualified applicants. However, the Navy and AF numbers are much lower.

Enlisting you should get E-3. You can't get E-5 or higher without some sort of PME (Professional Military Education). In the case of the Air Force, to get E-5 you have to attend Airman Leadership School and gain a 5 skill level, to get E-6 you have to have completed 7 level school and to get E-7 you have to complete NCO Academy.

Ok in the Army you can come in as an E-4 with a degree. And yes you can go to OCS without a 4 year degree. You can go in under a degree completion contract. Witch means you go to OCS become an officer and then finish your degree.

It takes a 4 year degree to be apply for OCS. Some college will get you a stripe or two if you are enlisted. Talk to your recruiter.

I don't care if you do have a Bachelors degree, if you don't have any college level R.O.T.C. you might get E-2......you can forget going in as an officer, like I said, without college level R.O.T.C. You might get into O.C.S. quicker with that much school..LATER

College graduates check out your opportunity below...
If it was my choice, I'd go USAF. There is no better way of life for a young person than the military.
