Bitter Apple is just one of many home-made solutions for this common nervous problem. Others might have alittle more success:
Try mixing Jalapeno juice with water and dipping your fingers in it, or vinegar, cheyanne...anything that tastes particularly bad in general or to you specifically.
Some pyschologists have actually gone to suggesting flavoring your fingers with your favorite taste, and then once all the flavor is gone you'll only taste nail and slowly build the aversion to the action...the idea is that you don't want to eat your finger nails, but have some nervous tick that is causing you to.
In that interest...you may take some time to locate the exact cause of the problem...for me, it was the constant dirt or anything that I would collect under a growing finger nail...I started carrying a pocket knife with a finger nail cleaning tool on it and everytime I got the urge I would clean my nails and eventually (about a year) I kicked the habit entirely.

I think it is all about willpower and there is no miracle cure. Set a date when you will stop. Apply one of those horrible tasting nail varnish things from a beauty store not Petsmart! This will just keep your focus on your nails and cannot totally stop you from doing it. Apply it after every time you wash you hands. Also treat yourself to some lovely nail varnish and handcream. Use the handcream every day and keep the nail varnish as a reminder of why you want to stop biting your nails. Apparently it takes 3 weeks to break a habit so go for it! Good luck!

honestly i found that the nasty tasting stuff never works. you put it in your mouth and its so disgusting that you never put it back on. The best thing that worked for me was taking an awesome vitamin( it was a prenatal but still) that will aid the growth of your nails. Also get manicures. If you can't afford or don't want tips put on a plain manicure will help cause your nails will look so pretty that you won't want to bite them.

Well, I had a hard time when I tried to stop biting my nails, what worked was I kept getting cuts in my mouth from something, and just because it hurt so much and I couldn't bite them, I stopped. I don't know what to tell you to do, because nothing worked for me but that, and I would not recommend you cutting up your mouth just to stop biting nails. Good luck.

I don't know about that since if it is from petssmart, it is probably for animals. But there is a similar product at Walgreens and places like that, I used it on my 5 year old to help him stop sucking his thumb. It tastes horrible, it doesn't harm you in anyway, it is just GROSS. If you remember to put it on, I give it a week and you won't be biting your nails. Good luck
Someone above said french manicure, alos go get acrilic (spelling?) nails, they are hard as rocks, they look so pretty you won't want to bite them. Just give it a shot

If your having trouble breaking the habit, maybe bite only 1 or 2 of them and let the rest grow. Once you see how nice the longer ones look, you'll quit biting the last couple.

my friend bites her nails and one time she had her mom pay her like money for if she didn't bite her nails.so think you could be loaded with money.or you can put tape around your fingers or lotion or you could wear gloves.if you have friends around you tell them to pull your hands away from your mouth.or get fake nails put on and you can bite those and then by that time you'll have some what long nails or nails.or just keep putting on fake nails and don't bite them becuz i would imagine they taste nasty and that wiil hopefully break your bad habit.gl!!!!lol!plus do you know how dirty your hands and fingers are.!eww!think about it.

Polish your nails with a thick coat. Colors like blue, black, and green have a mental effect that prevents you from chewing. You could also try wearing gloves all the time...that would be kind of strange.

Don't put them in your mouth. He he...
I'm a nail biter too. Don't feel bad. I've tried various things...like putting nasty tasting stuff (forgot the name of it) on my nails...keeping them polished....nails bother me and seem to get in the way at my work....
It's hard to grow your nails....if you're used to biting them.
But YOU CAN DO IT!
Best wishes!

Nope I haven't tried that, but you should go to a nail salon once a month if you want and get a nice manicure and then you won't want to bite them!
