msg myths...?

is it true that msg added to food is now illegal in uk, but some places..ie takeaways still use it?

I could not find any verification to this. However, I did find many UK articles stating that their was a link between MSG and obesity. Also, it stated that many people are allegic to it and the allergy is serious.

Not sure if its illegal yet but,
the quantities used are far in excess of safety limits.
the same applys to colourings...
