Petroleum products such as oil, grease, fuel are washed off the highway during rains. Salt that is used to de-ice the road is also washed/runs off into the water. All of these can be toxic to fish and aquatic organisms. Also litter and other debris can find its way into a stream.

It can affet it because parts of the cement can fall into the river and cause pollution and the death of animals who eat it. Pollution from vehicles is also not good and what about if there is an accident where is the car going in to the river where it could kill animals/fish that were there and pour oil and gas into the river. Hope this helps

Hi. Oil dripping off of the cars' undersides and hydrocarbon particles, especially Diesel, can enter the water.
