hairdressers problem...please help!?

My hair has not been cut in a long time and it is getting really bad. When I have got my haircut in the past, my older sister did it, and really well, just like a professional hairdresser. But now she has moved away from home so she cant cut it. I will have to go to a hairdressers, but i dont want to sound silly to the hairdressers. Like, what do i ask for? I've never done it before and i dont want to sound stupid.
Or should i just cut it myself? If so, how?

Don't do it yourself - go to a professional,
Just tell them what you think you want ,what you like or don't like get some input from them if you don't like what they say don't let them cut it either go to a new one - you need to be comfortable with the person who cuts your hair and it may take a few to find one

Well, my mom is a hairdresser and they won think you are stupid. Tell them you are thinking of getting a haircut and if they have any books with pictures. They usually do. Or you can bring in some pictures yourself. Good luck

If you go to a stylist, take in pictures. Bring a couple that look like the style that you like. When you bring in pictures, the stylist knows exactly what you are looking for.

Also, you won't sound stupid if you talk to your stylist about what you like and do not like in a haircut. It is better to speak up and be honest, than to have a haircut that you do not like.

Go to a hair dresser and they wont think you are stupid...Believe in your self!
