this is what i did, but since my school has vball as a winter sport, u prolly can't do some of the things i did....o well
everyday, we ran 15 minutes..i know it seems hard, and at first, it is...but it's not...the other day, i ran 2 miles in 20 minutes...
then, if we could do it (we tried to run every day, but weather has an effect on it, ya know) we would work on abs on legs..
for abs: 6 inches, flutter kicks, bicycles (good for legs, too), and this other thing..ill describe later
6 inches -- lay down on the ground on your back...lift your legs 6 inches off the ground for 30 seconds, then 45 seconds, then 1 minute...
flutter kicks -- just like 6 inches, except kick your feet a little (kind of like swimming)
bicycles -- pretend your riding your bicycle on the ground (laying down, i mean)
other thing -- you NEED a partner for this...you lay down on the ground, and your partner stands above your head, and you hold their ankles...then you lift your legs, and he/she pushes them to the ground either to the left, right, or middle...GREAT FOR LEGS TOO!!!
legs: STAIRS!! I CANNOT SAY HOW MUCH STAIRS HELPS!! run up and down stairs for 45 seconds, 1 minute, 1 1/2 minutes
inside: (or wherever you're working out) get a vball (obviously) and with your partner, do 20-20-20...but first, before you bump, set, or anything, WARM UP...do dynamics (side lunges, lunges, butt kicks, toes (like walk on toes regular, then toes in, then toes out), side steps, high skips, high knees, etc.) and when you're done with those, take the ball, be about the length of the vball court (length of serving line) and SLAM the ball to the ground toward them -- do both hands, right hand, left hand, then backwards
then, you FINALLY start sum vball!! do 20 passes (bumps) each (just toss the ball to each other)
20 sets (same as passes)
20 hand passes (see above)
then do some peppering (bumping, setting, down balls continuously) to each other
then 10-10-10
10-10-10 is kind of hard to explain...but i'll try...you know the way you're supposed to hit (left right left, the going down, etc motion)? well first, you do the motion where you JUST go down (swinging your arms back) 10 times
then you do it where you just jump and bring your arms up (like a sideways block)
then you do the WHOLE hitting technique (actual swinging to hit the ball motion) DONT USE A BALL FOR THIS TECHNIQUE
work on serving, too...do snap-and-serve...that's where you take the ball and go to a wall, and pretend like you're hitting the ball against the wall...that's like a warmup to serving, then ACTUALLY serve
i hope this helped, and i hope you make varsity! :-)

well the best thing to do is join a league outside of school like club volleyball to show that you really take it seriously.dont goof around in practice and dont talk back to the coach NO MATTER WHAT. the best thing to have is consistency so do your best & practice until you're closest to perfect =P good grades help too because they look for players they can depend on.no pass no play. and when somebody messes up pick them up.just say "shake it off" or "good hustle" positivity & communication is what makes a leader. coaches love it when someone on the court is shouting (in a positive way) lol my coach loves me. o ya & 1 more thing.dont fight w/ ur team mates. whatever issues some people may have take it outside the court because when you're on the court, put it aside. the games more important & team is family.good luck =) hope u make it

Practice passing, setting, diving, hitting, and serving every day. Running a mile or two every day will also help with endurance. Do 100 push-ups and sit-ups each morning, or 50 in the morning, and 50 at night. Push-ups are very helpful in building arm strength. Stretch out before any physical activity. To practice passing and setting, it's fairly simple...my season just ended, and I walk around the house all day, passing and setting with an imaginary ball! It may seem stupid, or feel odd at first, but it really does help to work on your form and build arm strength. Eat and drink plenty of healthy meals and beverages. Get plenty of rest, and show your coaches how dedicated you are.
Good luck!!!

at my tryouts they'll see how much you can get your serves and passes so try hard and always keep your eye on the ball and remember you come to the ball not the ball comes to you and the coaches hate it when the ball drops on the ground so dive for the ball.
