These are the exact directions that my husband got after he got his tattoo..
Remove the bandage in 2-3 hours
Wash with warm water and soap, then dry thoroughly.
When dry, apply a fresh layer or vaseline.
Cover with saran wrap and wear it through the night.
Remove the wrap in the morning and wash again with soap and water.
Continue washing throughout the day if oozing or plasma leakage occurs.
Keep your tatto dry after the first 24 hours and until it has completely healed-approx 7-14 days
Affter the first 24 horus begin applying a light unperfumed lotion
Apply a very small amount of lotion 1 or 2 times a day until fully absorbed.
Tattoo will being to peel and flake after about day 5
Do not pick at the scabs
Do not exercise or sweat until tattoo is fully healed: sweat will cause infection and damage the tattoo.
Keep our of sun and tanning beds for 4 weeks, both will damage the tattoo.
After tattoo is fully healed apply sunblock every time you go outside in the sun.

2 hours! but don't scrub it! just lightly with your hand rub some suds over the tattoo! then rinse it off! never put the water directly on the tattoo let the water role over it! then pat dry! put some fresh ointment on it and leave it alone! i learned a little trick to keep it from itching. Put some ice next to the tattoo where it has no ink! rub the ice all around it but not directly on it! the ice will get the nerves around the tattoo to calm down and it won't itch!

wait at least 6 hours before getting a shower after you get a tattoo. if you got it yesterday, today will be fine to have a shower. one thing you can't do though is have a bath, or go into a pool or hut tub for at LEAST a month, cause you could end up with a nasty infection

You can shower whenever you want, you just can't submerge the tattoo in water for AT LEAST two weeks...so no swimming and no baths. Just be gentle with the tattoo while you are showering and don't forget to put non - scented lotion after.

About 2 hours, but don't use really hot water, it may make it
blister. Just reapply the ointment after shower.

You don't have to wait to take a shower, just make sure you dont let the water hit the tattoo directly. Make sure when u wash it, you use antibacterial soap, and just your hand, not a washcloth or scrubbie.

You can take a shower whenever you start feeling dirty. Just don't take a bath, and wash the area gently. If you submerge the tattoo under water, the skin will get wet and cause the color not to set properly. Also, when your tattoo starts to peel, if you're not careful when you wash it you can damage the color also.

you need to have a shower 1 hour after you get your tatt and make sure the water is resonably hot to take the sting out and make sure you use a moisturising soap. so if you havent had a shower yet i suggest you get in there and get all the dry blood off your skin.
they really should have told you
