I lived in Romania as an Aid worker in an Orphanage in 1991.

The experience changed my life. Romanians are very generous and kind people. I was there in a difficult time for the country and its people. It was a humbling experience and one I will never forget. We take so much for granted in the UK.

I have not returned but I often think of the people and children I met there and wonder how things are now. I hope they are better!

I was born there! (So you don't want me to tell here everything I know about Romania; it would make a thick book.)

[Edit:] This stupid speller would like me to write Romania. I refuse!!!

And, believe it or not, I'm just listening to George Enescu's Romanian Rhapsody on the Cincinnati Classic Public Radio!

[Edit:] This stupid speller hasn't heard about Enescu either!!! It probably thinks all Romanians are called Ionesco (at least this is the suggestion it gave me...)

Most Romanian are Orthodox Christians--83%. (This is the Religion and Spirituality page, you know.)

Well, from living in Cluj, with my Romanian girlfriend for over a year now....i have learned many things about Romania.

-the doctors only work if you bribe them, but I still love my girlfriend...
-Gigi Becali is the most insane man I even laid my eyes on, but I still love my girlfriend...
-Even if it's a poor country, almost everybody talks about money, but I still love my girlfriend...
-It's the country with the second lowest IQ in Europe, but I still love my girlfriend...

besides the negative things...Beautiful country, lovely culture, friendly people...and well SARMALUTE!!! damn, I love those :)

Now I have to choose who/what I love more...my girlfriend or sarmale...hmz..can't choose...

For the rest just a few horrible key words: Ghita, Dansez pentru tine, La bloc, Dan Dianescu, Acasa and the most horrible thing alive: Manele! ...Whoever invented Manele should be shot, sorry...

I've read that while it isn't as poor as it was 16 years ago, it is still fairly poor, and a center of the Euro sex trade.

I've read a little about the language, and I like it. I don't know much about the country, but I wish I did.

Not a lot but we'll soon find out when they all arrive here in a few months time.
What's that got to do with religion though, or are you just getting in first?
