yes...Black Death...The three forms of the Black Death were transmitted two ways. The septicemic and bubonic plague were transmitted with direct contact with a flea, while the pneumonic plague was transmitted through airborne droplets of saliva coughed up by bubonic or septicemic infected humans.

The bubonic and septicemic plague were transmitted by the the bite of an infected flea. Fleas, humans, and rats served as hosts for the disease. The bacteria (Yersinia pestis) multiplied inside the flea blocking the flea's stomach causing it to be very hungry. The flea would then start voraciously biting a host. Since the feeding tube to the stomach was blocked , the flea was unable to satisfy its hunger. As a result, it continued to feed in a frenzy. During the feeding process, infected blood carrying the plague bacteria , flowed into the human's wound. The plague bacteria now had a new host. The flea soon starved to death.

There are many species of fleas, and each one is parasitic on a different animal. ANIMAL FLEAS DO NOT STAY LONG ON HUMAN SKIN. FLEAS CAN LEAP GREAT DISTANCES, and isolated flea bites on human skin can be caused by animal (usually cat or dog) fleas that have temporarily left their hosts. Flea eggs hatch in bedding about seven days after they have been laid. The fleas may then laid. The fleas may then live in the bedding, and feed off their animal hosts and, occasionally, humans. Their bites cause intense irratation for up to two days. Flea infestation of humans occurs in all parts of the world, but is most common where there is close contact between people and domestic animals or where hygienic conditions are poor.

To avoid infestation use anti-flea spray, powder or shampoo on your pets skin, and spray their bedding regularly as well. If you suspect infestation in your own bedding, furniture, or carpets, you should apply a flea repellent to your skin and also spray the suspected items. In severe cases you may not be able to control the fleas, and it may be advisable to call in a professional exterminator to do the job.

Sure, how do you think the Black Plague occurred?
Fleas came with the rats that came from ships, that brought the disease from Asia. (Google Black Plague) When the rats died, they opted for people. Plague still exists in parts of this country, still carried by fleas that are on rats, squirrels, but it is rare. Apart from anything else, fleas are just a nusance......

Buy some flea bombs and use as directed. If you have pets, treat them with Advantage or Frontline. These two work better than anything made by Hartz.

Yes. Fleas were, in part, responsible for the plagues that ravaged europe and have killed millions throughout history. Buy foggers, fog, wait a few days and fog again. Fogging kills the fleas but not the eggs. You must wait until the eggs hatch and fog to kill the new fleas before they can lay eggs.
