i have a couple caddies that keep falling and i need them to hold shampoo and other stuff

don't use suction cups. There are sticky things that you can buy at the store where you stick the caddie to the wall. They are call mounting strips called Command strips made by 3M. They hold strong and can be taken off cleanly if you no longer want it stuck to the wall.

It has to be a smooth surface such as glass or tile.
If you are putting it in the shower, clean the tile thoroughly and rub it down with white vinegar.
Then try the suction cups again. Make sure the suction cups are totally clean. Wipe them with the vinegar too. Dampen them slightly and press hard to the wall or tile.

If it is on the painted wall I doubt it will stay up.

those suction cup caddies dont work very well, if you have a shower check out the kind of caddy that hangs from your shower head plus has suction cups on it then the hook part will support the weight while the suction cups help keep it in place.

You need to make sure the cup and the wall are really clean, then just moisten the cup before you stick on the wall. Should stay on then. If not, there's probably some damage to the cup or the walls not even and flat.

get the suction cups wet the stick to a dry smooth surface.
