Everytime I try to go to microsoft update from my computer, I get: [Error number: 0x8007007E]
OS: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edititon (SP1)
Very fustrating!

This happens if an important .dll file is missing from your system.

Download XP SP2 from the following link. Straight from microsoft, it takes longer to download but it should fix your problem. Make sure there is no spyware or virus on your pc before running.

use windows update instead
still updates the same stuff but through a different means
one is from the internet, the other is through control panel
