Some missionaries came by my house yesterday from the Church of God they were excited about the bible and spitting some good stuff about keeping the sabbath day holy which my church doesn't do but we do have a pretty good understanding of the bible from our teachings. The reason I ask is because one of the missionaries referred to the church as "The Family" that made me think are they a cult because I've heard of this family on the news and it wasn't good things. It would help if you know the facts or some facts on the topic that I'm speaking on instead of giving me your empty thoughts I don't want thoughts I want facts thank you!

I've never heard of them but we are no longer required to keep the Sabbath law. That law was pointing ahead to the rest that believers find in Jesus. That doesn't mean that we shouldn't get a least one day of rest each week because as Jesus said "The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath". Nor does it mean that it is wrong to set aside one day a week for worship. It just means that we are no longer under a legal obligation to keep a specific day of the week as the sabbath.

"And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him. Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ. Colossians 2:13-17

Hebrews 4:3 For we who have believed enter that rest,.....So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his. Hebrews 4:9-10

"Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand. One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God. Romans 14:4-6

Anyhow, I would be leary of any religion that taught a legalistic interpretation of keeping the sabbath. If they don't have that doctrine right who knows where else they may have strayed from the truth.
