I have been waking from sleep, and, fully awake, seeing things in my room. It could be spiders, a jumble ball going up my wall, not really shapes/shadows or people. Has anyone else had this? I am fully awake but just coming from sleep and it keeps getting worse and worse- do I have a logical reason to go see a Doctor?

I've heard of "hypnogogic hallucinations" which can occur as you are falling asleep. (I'm aware of these because they can accompany sleep paralysis, which I've personally experienced.) So, after reading your question, I looked it up and found these can also occur during the period in which you are WAKING UP up (as you described), only this experience is referred to as "hypnopompia". The visual sensations you described are common. Although I typically can't stand it when people refer to Wikipedia in their responses, the information I found there was actually better than I found on most other sites. (I've attached the link.) As for seeing a doctor, as I understand it, if symptoms of a sleep disorder do not go away on their own after a matter of weeks, it is definately best to seek medical help. Good luck! It doesn't sound like much fun. : (

I've been experiencing this for a couple of years. Seeing usually spiders, things flying over, etc. I have also a pretty troubled sleep at times (lots of nightmares if I'm stressed out, moving around a lot in my bed, etc). I never checked out with a doctor, but I would think that it's related to being half-awake and half-asleep. Well, I would not worry too much if I were you. I don't have any such visions during the day and I'm pretty sane! But if it keeps disturbing your sleep, I would maybe consult because it could be a sign of sleep disorder or of having too much stress/anxiey in your life (and it comes out in your sleep).
Anyway, good luck!

Something similar happened to me years ago. My question to you is are you using any kind of drugs? It started happening to me when I was using drugs and then went into rehab. It took awhile for it to stop, but it was always when I was coming out of sleep like yours. If your worried about it see a Doctor but mine went away on its own. Also think about any stress you might be having which could cause it. If you are taking drugs I hope you stop as you can see what it does to you is not good.

My friend too has experienced seeing spiders like you described. it was alarming and confusing time for her. She has sleep apnea so maybe seeing the spiders is related to falling asleep and waking up. She is now being treated with a BIPAP 2,( had a CPAP before.) She has adjusted to the nasal mask and feels better. I wish you luck on your search, remember you are not alone when it comes to seeing spiders.

That is weird. It could be a sleep disorder where you belive that you are awake but you are not. Can't remember the name of the disorder, but I would recommend that you go and see the doctor and if necessary a psychologyst; especially if they are getting worse.

i'm being serious, have you ever taking drugs (ie LSD, or heroin)...i'm not insinuating you are in this state when you wake up, but if you have done it in your past, that could be a cause. (i know from experince)

if you are legitimately seeing actauly things on your walls when you feel you are really awake, there is no doubt you should see a doctor, pyscholigist, therapist etc

It could be a form of sleep apnea. I've had simialr experiences when waking up, feeling as though someone was in the room watching me. It can be scary, that's for sure.

They could be halucinations, your still partly in the dream state, or it could just be your imagination. Also, keep a flashlight by your bed, and whenever you see something, shine the flashlight at it, and see if something is really there. That might prove something. If not, go see a doctor.

Sometimes this kind of thing is related to depression. I think you should go and talk with a doctor just in case.
