"Beef Jerky" - Yields 1/2 pound

1 lb. boneless beef round steak
1 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1/2 tsp. pepper

1) Freeze meat 1 hour to firm (makes slicing easier); trim and discard fat from steak. Cut steak into very thin slices.
2) Place strips in single layer on wire rack in jelly-roll pan. Sprinkle with garlic salt and pepper.
3) Bake at 200* about 6 hours until beef is dry. Cool; store in covered container in refrigerator.

Best way is to buy a Dehydrator unit. I don't care for jerky made in an oven.
Cut your beef in 1/4 inch strips (or have a butcher do it)

I use a bottle of Soy Sauce and for a great flavor and zing, I add Tobasco Sauce to the Soy Sauce, then marinate the beef in it for a half hour or so.

Add the strips on to the dehydrator racks one piece at a time until rack is full. Some unit have two or three stacks of racks. Then follow the instruction booklet as to how long to let the beef cook.

Easy except for the prep that takes a bit of time.

Simple really...My old man makes Deer Jerky every year...
You need a smoker...they are relativily inexpensive you can get them online just google Beef Jerky Smoker or..something along those lines...Then you just get ingreidents..like..Salt Pepper..worschteser sauce...honey...anything you think would taste good...blend it all together with some water..marinate the beef or deer jerkey in it overnight..throw it in the smoker for a set amount of time and wallah...you got jerky...sure beats paying 5 bucks for like 2 tiny peices. good luck
P.S not a dehydrator...not the same thing as a smoker

You need a food dehydrator, and some of those come with instructions for jerky. If you really enjoy making it, maybe you could send some to the troops overseas, a lot of them really enjoy homemade jerky.
