do you do alot to it, like blowdry, curling iron, any heat product or alot of product? usually when your hairs comes out in the shower, it means old damaged hair so new hair can come in, i have naturally curly hair and i straighten it every other day, so my hair comes out too, what is a big amount, it should not be more than inch wide of hair, i would go to a well respected salon and ask for a really good shampoo for damaged hair, and let them wash it and tell you what they think... hope this helps

My hair does the same thing. If it has always done this then you might just have very sensitive, breakable hair - if it recently started happening then think of any changes you've made to your hair, had in your diet or hair products. It could be the shampoo you're using, or lack in vitamins. Try not running your fingers through your hair in the shower - use a very moisturizing professional shampoo and be very gentle on it - then use a very moisturizing deep conditioner (usually in a jar - not a bottle) that you're supposed to leave in for 10 min. or so (leave it in for 15 the first time). BEFORE you rinse it out comb through your hair gently with a wide tooth pick starting @ the ends and slowly working your way up to the roots (in sections). When you rinse it leave some of the conditioner in your hair. The trick is to stimulate your head as little as possible - especially with running your hands through it & brushing it. So you might also want to get a good leave in (I really like Aussie Mega's 'No Knots' - it was a break through for me) and put that in your hair after you shower before you brush or style it. If this doesn't help then I would see a Dr.

Oh don't worry, unless your on medication that can make your hair come out, then it is most likely nothing.

Ever since I was in middle school, (and that was toooo many years ago to mention) my hair comes out by the handfulls everytime I shower and wash my hair. when I brush it, my brush is loaded with hair.

My hair is super thick and i am not going bald any where on my head. You are just sheding. It is normal, kinda like a dog or cat does.

and switching shampoo or conditioner will not stop it. it may even damage your hair if you switch to much.

I have an appointment every 2-3 months with a nutritionist/diet doctor. One of questions I am asked each visit - "is your hair, shedding or coming out when you shampoo?" When I reply yes I get a chewing out for not eating, like skipping meals because I don't get hungry like the average person. When I eat at least 2 meals a day I truly don't shed hair.
You do need to add more healthy food to your daily intake, & you'll see the difference.

Same thing was happening to my best female friend. She bought Suave Aloe Vera conditioner and her hair got thicker and stopped falling out. Ithink its time for you to change conditioner.
