Too many of those who run the churches are in it for the money. It's a vocation related to acting, except the stage is a church.

You are very misinformed. How do you think the Church pays the utility bills, sponsors missionaries, feed the homeless, help the needy to pay their bills, buy teaching supplies and the list goes on and on. If you want to call it a business, go ahead. A business of helping others in need. A business of saving lives, A business of Gods work in motion. As for pastors being paid, Its not that much when you think about it. They spend countless hours of studying, preparing sermons, being with those who are in hospitals, nursing homes, Going through trials in their lives and alot more. You have a lot of audasity! What do you do for anyone? BTW You picked one verse from the Bible, As most hippocrites do. Read the rest, Maybe it will change your perspective on this issue. Sorry if I sound stern, But these are the cold hard facts. God bless. Lou

First of all, you are in no position to tell God that you dont have the money to tithe at church.
Numbers 18:26 Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the LORD, even a tenth part of the tithe.
You are to tithe one tenth of your worth to the church every week. Where in that scripture does it say "only if you have it?" It doesn;t..But so many people have money to go out to eat, movies, drink, smoke, and who knows what else, but nothing for God. That is a lame excuse.
Leviticus 27:32 And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD
Again, this scripture doesn not say "only if you have it".
Numbers 5:10 And every man's hallowed things shall be his: whatsoever any man giveth the priest, it shall be his.
What the Church gives the priest is his according to God. But churches do not hord this money. They divide it up to pay light bills, help missionaries, buy bibles to give away. Help homeless people. Pay bills, out side of what the paster gets. He only gets a percentage of the tithe money. There is also insurance for the church house buildings which because of all the church burnings, is quite high.
There is lawn maintainance to pay for, but in my opinion , someone should do that for free, especially when they are using the church lawn mower and edger/weedwacker.
Then there is the church house keeper, which again i personally believe they should do that for free. To keep the Lord's house clean should be an honor as should the lawn maintainance.
Matthew 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
Where did it say in the above scripture that you give only because you want to?
This next scripture that you pointed out means that because even though that poor woman only gave so little, weighed far more to God, because she gave in tithes to the Lord, ALL SHE HAD. Which I can assure you was more than one tenth of what she had in the whole world. She gave it all, compared to what that rich man gave.
Luke 21:1 And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.
2 And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.
3 And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:
She gave all she had. She did not tell the Lord that she did not have anything to give Him, or if I give you this which is the last of my money, I will not have money for food. She knew that God will provide, because she was giving back to Him freely.. She gave all of what she had left, which in the eyes of God was far more that what the rich guy had all together.

here's where it says if you give you wil recieve:
The Rich Young Man
16Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, "Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?"
17"Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments."
18"Which ones?" the man inquired.
Jesus replied, " 'Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, 19honor your father and mother,'[d] and 'love your neighbor as yourself.'[e]"
20"All these I have kept," the young man said. "What do I still lack?"
21Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
22When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.
23Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."
25When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, "Who then can be saved?"
26Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
You should give because you want to, and at my church nobody looks at you wierd if you don't give any money.
