I am sorry you feel that. The soldiers do a job they are supposed to, what they are told to. We should be thanking each and everyone of the soldiers. They have family back home who miss them, they put themselves in harms way for us. We just sit here and type on the computer, we get to sleep in a warm bed etc.
In terms of it being a mess it is not even close to being a mess. In fact we are doing an awesome job.
Are we fighting a war here in the states. I mean between Illinois and Iowa? No we're not. We are fighting a war in a place we don't know, in an urban combat setting against people who blend into the civilian population. This is the hardest, deadliest war to fight and we are doing an awesome job. I don't like that American lives are lost, no one does, but we average about three deaths a day, only three. I know its three to many. But to get back to living here were we are not in war. We loose 43 Americans a day from homicide, a place where we are not in war.
Now lets look at getting the top ten wanted in Iraq and the USA. Look at all the police, FBI etc that are looking everyday for the 10 most wanted in America, in a place we know. We have over a million people keeping an eye out and looking for these people. How many do we catch a year? Now look at Iraq, we have a little over a hundred thousand troops. How many do we catch there. I let you research this because you will be surprised. This is only part of the stats. I would say we are doing an awesome job, not to mention all the pressure from people who don't understand the war and want to leave.
As far as I remember people who don't like whats happening are free to either run for a seat and make changes or free to move to another country.

I hope the US pulls out now so nobody can win. If that can't be done, I hope Bush gets into his souped-up Delorean, goes back to 2003, and have someone tell him that Iraq had no weapons and a war there would only cause the GOP to lose Congress and the Senate! (Which, hopefully, they will on Nov. 7. My birthday is on Nov. 22, and that would be a fantastic present.)

I think you make some very good points. I know for a fact that our US soldiers are openly killing citizens, but the majority of opinion is 'we must support the troops'. They have become a bad bunch, not all obviously, but we need to get out of there. Discipline is shot, and it all goes back to our illustrious leader who thumbs his nose at convention and rules.
