We went up north to a farm to go pumpkin picking and got some apple cider, but its not pasteurized. I love it, but its starting to make my stomach ache a little bit. Does that mean its not okay to drink?

The cider was purchased from a very reliable, respected source- a place that has been doing this for 50 years and has not had any problems.

I would have gotten pasteurized if they had it available.

My experience and I have bought the unpasteurized for years--you will know when it is bad. It will start to taste like vinegar. As for the stomach cramps, you might try the pasteurized and see if your stomach cramps. It might be your stomach cannot handle the cider. Yes, it could be bad cider but I have never had bad cider. (with the bacteria) Your decision??? Good luck.

Also, if they are selling bad cider, others are buying it and someone would have reported it before you bought yours. If it was bad, someone would have shut down their sale of cider before this.

Apple cider can be alcohol based too if kept long. So forever. Yes tummy will growl and make me hungry if i drink a few cups. Other things headaches.

If you don't start getting flu like symptoms, then I'd say your probably drinking too much at a time. I'm sure the cider is fine, but as they say "if in doubt, throw it out".

I have done that before on accident but I'm 28 weeks now and my baby girl is just fine. I say you'll be fine just don't drink too much of it. Plus your in your second trimester so I bet everything is okay. Hope this helps.

It is never a good idea to drink unpasturized juices unless you know the source very well(ie: you made it yourself.) Unpasturized fruit juice is the perfect carrier for E-Coli as well as human communicable diseases(Tuberculosis, Hepititis and more).

Pasturization is a good thing. It helps us stay healthy.
