I have an itchy arm and its my tattoo, only on the ink line and colour, its come up all lumpy and bumpy, why do my tatts do this??? it over 5 years old and only happens every now and then???

I have 2 and exactly the same thing happens to one of mine every now & then, and I had it over 30yrs....strange

If the tattoo is five years old, and the itching is not constant I would say it's coincidence and you have some sort of dermatitis going on that just happens to be where the tat is. As its on your arm you can use something like Eumovate or Hydrocortisone for a few days to settle it back down. It may be that having the tattoo done has made your skin a little more sensitive, but if it was the actual tattoo I would expect it to itch all the time.

I have both of my arms sleeved and sometimes the same thing happens to me, but usually when im drinking. I was always told its because alcohol thins your blood and can cause the ink to lift a little. Then again that came from other drunk people with tattoos so i really have no idea, sorry.

It may be some of the inks and other chemicals in the tatoo that ur body isnt used to i wouldnt be woried but if it doesnt stop call a docter or poison control.

I had this problem with the color red ink on my tats. I found out I was allergic to the red ink only and eventually all the red faded out of my tats - it took years. Are you doing anything different that may cause irritation to the area of your tat?

Mine does it from time to time... For some reason different weather causes it to itch... My uncle also has a tattoo and the red ink in it swells up when it rains.

Its an allergic reaction to the ink,sometimes it can happen straight away or years later.Usually blue or black ink.

Wow, after 5 years that is odd. Go see a doctor, it might just be an allergy but you never know.

that sounds like maybe a rash, or you ould be allergic to the ink they were using at that time. some people have severe allergies to the ink....you could be one of them.

you could be allergic to the ink.. mine has a few spots like that where there is red ink... I was told I was allergic to just the red ink..
