No its not unsafe. Unless you plan to go to the Gaza strip you are safer in Israel than most other places in the world including the US.

I went a short while ago and my friends were there during this past summers war and were perfectly safe.
There is no better security in the world than in Israel.

The odds of being a victim of a terror attack in Israel are very small--your more likely to be in a car accident in your own country.

We rented a car and drove the entire length of Israel--their roads are wonderful and they dont drive crazy as someone said.
I feel sorry for the folks who base their knowledge on the news media!
The only precaution I took was to avoid buses--thats it.

I am sure you take precautions right now to stay safe in your home town and I will bet that they are more than you would need to in Israel.

Go--have a wonderful time and trust me when I say--a trip to Israel will change your life--it is simply awesome.

I get regular email from a group in Florida called Educational Opportunities--they are on the web--something like eotravelwithus.com. Anyway, they are continuing to take tours and say that they have had no problems. My own experience is that communication between drivers and guides keeps tourist buses out of danger zones. I wouldn't hesitate to take another tour and am in fact going with a small group in a few months. As someone else said, it is always dangerous, but your odds of being where the danger is are small.

The thing you need to worry most about is highway driving. Folks drive like maniacs there and don't follow the rules of the road.
