Turn the other cheek is a degrading behaviour for masochists and cowards while an eye for an eye is for man of dignity. I have so much pride than I throw ten stones at those who throw one at me. If Hitler confronted a world according to Jesus' turn the other cheek, then he would have conquered the christian world easily. Those who fight back Hitler are not christians, they go against the law of Jesus.

No one likes to preach an eye for an eye, but everyone does it anyway. Have we honestly gotten anywhere with it? The death penalty doesn't prevent murders, and Isreal and Palestine haven't sat around and said "You killed 500 soldiers, but we got 350 civilians and a few insurgents, so we're even now, okay?"
Just doesn't happen. And think of it this way: if a nuclear weapon ever attacked the US, the first reaction would be to return it with 10X the force. The opposing country would most likely lob another one out there since we killed more people and that's not fair. Good luck finding any country after nuclear war.
Short answer: don't care what you say, but an eye for an eye only does make us blind.

depends on the situation. I try to turn the other cheek if someone verbally hurts me or scorns me. If someone hurts me or my children in a bad way the no holds barred, it's an eye for an eye or more so.

Both, really. Keep things in context and try to understand the differing situations. If somebody deliberately causes one of His children to lose an eye, they will suffer similar loss. "If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also." If you follow this advise, good things will happen to you, I guarantee it.

I think they are both wrong, for me the truth is in between: You should not take revenge, but you should also defend yourself if you are attacked. Generally you should act a way to minimize violence against yourself and others.
