I had surgery a few months ago, I had my appendix taken out. Do you think its a good idea to get a tattoo over it? I already have a little butterfly right under the scar which is like 2-3 inches long.

Since you have a small butterfly, you can add a pretty flower...
Just wait till your scar is completely healed.
And keep in mind that cover up tattoos hurt like hell!

I love all my tattoos. However, work does not. I have to wear a thick-banded watch on my right arm just a little higher than where a normal watch would sit, because work disagrees with me on tattoos. Not all jobs are like that, but many places are. I think that's what people are getting at when they say to get them someplace that can be covered up. When I'm not at work, I don't cover my tattoos. I think tattoos can make a person more beautiful, even if it's only because it's something that has meaning to that person, and gives them confidence. Tattoos and piercings would never effect what I think about people. When I look at old pictures of myself, where I'm missing a tattoo or piercing, I think I look so naked and awkward. I think that my tattoos make me more beautiful and show off my personality more.

It's best to wait a year before doing anything on scars. You'll also have to find a good artist as scars don't absorb ink as well and a special technique is used for tattooing them. You might have to have it tattooed twice to get the color right.

Nah... don't think so.

Scars change color & sometimes shape, especially in that area of the body. Any tattoo in that area may not look the same in a few years.

Let the butterfly fly solo!

when it's healed, sure if that is what you want...but keep in mind a tattoo is more painful when done on or over scar tissue. so it might hurt worse than the previous one....personally i don't think i would....your scar might be smaller than you think, wait and see how it heals.
