way to stop this problem. The other cat tore up my other electronic litter box by shoveling all the litter to where the rake could not move. Since I work, an electronic litter box is a big help to avoid odors . . . or at least it was until she started peeing down the doorway.

Yep, it is hard to tap with a cat on your lap on one that insists on crossing the keyboard every now and then.

Get a normal litter tray and see how they get on with it. I work too and I sieve out their droppings both before and after work and don't have an odour problem. I also use litter freshener for their benefit rather than mine.

You may find they don't like the electrical apparatus and are sending you a message. Mine are terrified of the vacuum cleaner although I have never sucked them up!

Try a hooded litter box with a liner inside. Also try a different kind of litter. Wash out the box since cats tend to continue peeing on areas they can smell pee on.

get a litter box with a top... so her butt doesn't hang over the side. sorry, I just read the rest of the question.. my advise would be to put a rug of some kind at the front opening.

I would maybe but Rubber Maid contaniers all around the out side of ur litter box so when you get home all you have to do is dump it out. then clean on Sunday or something.
