I started teaching my son 1 about three months before his birthday. So now that we are hitting two we are working on it. He can say it and he knows what I'm asking but he just won't show me two fingers. Practice makes perfect. For all the ones who are telling you that you are rushing her, HUSH IT. Kids don't know anything but what we teach them. They don't have anything but what we give them. So lets teach them at an early age so that they are eager to succeed and reach for knowledge.

learning their age is done by memory and practice. be patient and keep playing games about her age as well as a few other people's ages. she'll start paying attention to age when she attends a birthday party and has a wonderful time. that happened with all three of my children. now my granddaughter is going through the same thing. if anyone you know has children who knew their ages at 2 yrs., ask them how they did it. my kids were about three when age clicked with them (they remembered that how old they were, meant having a special, fun day...birthday party and cake). don't push it, relax, she'll catch on soon enough!!

I found out that the best way is to make up a catchy song for her to remember her age or anything that you want her to remember. I have a 3 year old who remembers a lot and a professional singer! LOL I found out that songs that are catchy children will remember it and will eventually remember the words or info you want them to remember.

She is only two, she is too young to grasp the idea of "age"...that she has lived for two years. She doesn't understand the passing of time.
