who says that they should be killed or hated? I think that if this were the way things were that would make religion seem even more like it is an occult which for the most part it already does, I think if the world went around killing and hating all of those that didn't believe in god it would just prove that there actually is no such thing as a god, something like that seems very possible though which is a scary thought to me

I agree with u... i feel the same way. Onw thing about religion that I also hate is that they can easily say " well its a sin" or " God said this , so u should do it". Like if u dont de it ur going to hell. I came back from a party and Ived been drinking and my roomie told me, getting drunk is a sin. I hate that cause then you are like. But im catholic so if i dont believe its a sin then its not. But I dont really believe in God, does that still make me a catholoic?

But yeah as long as we are good here why shouldnt we go to heaven? I mean who is the better person? A person who is a pedophile and goes to church or a person who doesnt go to church but still is not a pedophile? Thats my beef there.

If you grew up in an environment where it is essentially illegal not to believe in God, then you would see it from that perspective. Not believing would be committing an act of blasphemy and nobody is allowed to blaspheme, period. Even if the majority of the flock were inclined to let you go there would/will still be that element who feel that they are doing their religious duty to hate you and to even kill you. It would be akin to wondering why a tiger was eating you since you are not it's natural prey not taking into account that when you are in it's environment you just ARE prey. If blasphemy laws were passed in the west, atheists would need to "find" God or go undercover, no matter what anyone tells you on this forum. We would just become the prey of the fanatical.

Well ya know...FLIP THE COIN.
Why should people be killed and hated for believing in GOD, FATHER ,SON, and HOLY SPIRIT?
You are right in asking why should people be killed for not believing...
I do not think that they should be killed for not believing...
These things happened in ancient times, or whatever 2,000 years ago or more, I don't know, maybe it is still happening today, but mostly all I see on the NEWS is people being killed for BELIEVING, not the other way around...
I do not see too many, if any people being killed in this day and age for," not believing", however I see people all over the world BEING KILLED RIGHT NOW (in this present moment) FOR BELIEVING IN GOD, JESUS, and the HOLYGHOST...
So what are you saying?
Is it right for either side to KILL for their beliefs or non-beliefs ? NO.
And for BELIEVERS... it will get worse when the Anti-christ says, BOW DOWN AND WORSHIP ME OR MY IMAGE, and those who do will be spared death in the physical world at least, but they will be damned for sure in the afterlife. And those who do not will be killed for not worshipping the BEAST who will say he is GOD.
Or at least according to the BIBLE.
Which who knows, I have to wonder myself, even as a christian...How an all loving GOD can destroy anyone or anything HE created???
I take the BIBLE LITERALLY, but I often wonder if the VATICAN changed it so the CATHOLIC CHURCH, or the POWERS that BE could CONTROL THE MASSES.
I do not doubt it.
Why? you give anyone that type of power and they are bound to mess it up, abuse or misuse it...
Why? Cause we are human and we can not (most of us) see that there really may be a larger picture.
That we were not there when the foundation of the world was laid...that we were not there when the HEAVENS and the EARTH were created.
That, to many, they can not even FATHOM a GOD, or a DECIEVER called the DEVIL...
who would try to take over as God, and have to be cast down to a fiery hell.
We only use about one tenth of our mind/ brain ? why do we think we are so GREAT ?
Look at what man has done since being on this planet...
This planet is alive and well. It will live without MAN, but man can not live without this planet...Air, water, food, shelter...etc. etc. etc...
Maybe I got off track a little bit about your question.
Well thats me...

God's rules, not mine.
You shouldn't be hated, the Bible even says God hates the sin not the sinner.
Bottom line is that he's God and worthy to be worshiped, and since he's God he gets to determine the punishment.

btw when I say punished I mean in the after life, not on earth.
Nobody should be killed by another person for failing to believe.

No one in their right mind believes you should be killed or hated for not believing in God. In every religion or non-religion there are extremist who will believe something crazy but do not judge an entire group of people based on a few idiots!

You shouldn't!!!!! Personally I would rather believe there is a God and die to find out that there isn't than to believe there isn't a God and die to find out that there is. But if you don't believe, you don't believe. You shouldn't be killed or hated for not believing.

If you mean-'people killing people'-its because they do not believe in God that they kill.
If you mean- 'God killing people' He does not. He only allows you the choice to live is peace or stress.

You should not be killed or hated. You can be good compared to other people, but no one is good in a spiritual sense except God.

According to Moses, people are to be stoned for a number of offenses that hurt others either directly or indirectly. But scripture also talks about two ways of understanding this, and if we look for a symbolic meaning to this, we find that stones also represented witness, testimony, and/or information, and since they were also used for recording writings way back then. In Christianity, this implies that "stoning to death" would mean testifying (stoning) against someone until they have a change of heart (as Paul describes as dying) This was to be done by many also, and by all the people, not just one.

Islam, however, was never intended to "mature" from such barbarism into more civilized behavior, like Christiainty is supposed to (some day). And there are a great many others ancient laws of Moses such as this that Christians will be required to understand some day very soon. Islam, in fact, and the growth of it today, is purposed by God to force Christianity to mature in such a way or to eventually die for never growing up intellectually in ways that Moses intended.

As for people who do not believe in God, this is not a sin, nor reason for condemnation. But they are still caught in the middle of the greater scheme when God sends enemies against his (Christian, today) nations to force them to mature.
