I know exactly the solution, you teach eachother. Exactly what my boyfriend and I used to do. you teach him something in english and he teaches you the same in german. plus words arent the only way of expressing something. bodylanguage and affection are great too!

Lots of good advice in the answers given here. No need to repeat what has already been said. There are also the non-verbal forms of communication, like music, mathematics, body language and just plain old shared experience. In time I expect he will learn at least a little English, you a little German, and the rest will be history. Be patient, love.

I really wonder how he could become your boyfriend if you can't communicate and I also wonder how you found a German who doesn't speak English at all, because we all have to learn it at school (I am German too).

Sorry to be insulting, but that "boyfriend" must really be dumb or at least have some sort of learning disability. It is so easy for German speakers to learn English it isn't even funny. The two languages have a lot in common because they come from the same group of languages.

Try to learn one another's languages. My mother is German, and my dad is American. They didn't speak a word of each other's language when they started dating...they barely understood each other when they got married. My grandmother, my dad's mom, taught my mom how to speak English by having her point to different things, and she'd tell her what they were called. There are different ways to learn. Work with one another to learn your languages. Then you can communicate so much better, and you'll both be bilingual. Plus-plus.

Well, he has to learn to speak English and you have to learn to speak German. But, if he's already your boyfriend, the language barrier can't be that big, can it?

How did you get together if you don't speak the same language? I speak a lot of Spanish and I once had a blind date with a girl from Argentina and even that was too much of a difference for us to be able to really talk to each other.
