The vast majority of Americans believe that God exists, that Jesus is his son, and that God himself gave us the Bible and the Ten Commandments. In fact, Supreme court Justice Antonin Scalia has said that "Ninety-nine percent of Americans believe in the ten commandments." He has also said, "What the commandments stand for is the direction of human affairs by God."

If 99% of Americans believe in the ten commandments, how can the Bible be repulsive? Let's take the fourth commandment as an example. It says:

Remember the sabbath day, and keep it holy. For six days you shall labour and do all your work. But the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work—you, your son or your daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock, or the alien resident in your towns. [Exodus 20: 8-9]
This, supposedly, is the word of God, the almighty ruler of the universe.
Now think about this. Wal-mart is open on the Sabbath. And so is Target.

What should we do with all of these people who are breaking the fourth commandment?

In the Bible's book of exodus - the same book that contains the ten commandments – the Bible tells us what to do with everyone who breaks the fourth commandment. Exodus 31 verse 15 tells us exactly what to do:

For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day must be put to death.
That's right. The Bible commands the death penalty for anyone who works on the Sabbath, and we should obey. Right? This means we have to kill tens of millions of Americans.
Should we line these tens of millions of Americans up and shoot them?

Should we put them in giant gas chambers?

I think we can all agree that the thought of killing millions of innocent Americans is repulsive. A book this repulsive has no place in our society.

And make no mistake about it - the bible really means what it says. It fully intends to be

And make no mistake about it - the bible really means what it says. It fully intends to be repulsive. In Isaiah 40 verse 8 the Bible says:

The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God will stand for ever. [Isaiah 40 verse 8]
The Bible says the same thing in 1 Peter 1 verses 24 and 25. And in Psalm 19:7 the Bible says:
The law of the Lord is perfect.
Since the laws of the Bible are perfect, they should never change.
And then there is this. In Matthew 5 verse 20 Jesus says:

For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven. - Matthew 5:20
According to Jesus, we must follow the laws of the Bible.
Do you believe that we should kill millions of innocent people because they work on the Sabbath? If not, do you want a book this repulsive to be quoted in public? Read to children? Used in our courts of law?

OK.......... this is just the first example from this website. Now, let's read. Romans 5:20, Paul explaining a need for redemption:
"The law was added so that trespass might INCREASE. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more." hmmm, law given so we can break it.

Galations 3...read it. but here is a shocker Gal 3:10 "All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written 'Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do EVERYTHING written in the Book of the Law'"

Whenever you do a research paper, you must get sources from multiple places. You must be critical and use your own brain to figure out if any information is faulty or bias. However, by nature, we human being are bias naturally. This video I watched was probably bias yes. I just used the information that was directly quoted from the bible, making sure that I looked up the scriptures from other bibles, from other sites. So your point is valid yet at the same time invalid. I don't follow any man's word dogmatically, which is what you do. You believe the bible is entirely true or written by God right? If I am wrong then correct me. So, there is no room for error or flaws right? So my truth still stands. I have logic and reason on my side simply because I am willing and will admit when something is incorrect and not entirely true. That is the scientific way. Your way of blind belief is believing in something no matter what. Like the bible says, god's word is never changing and does not die. Explain to me how it is possible for it to do so if he states it cannot without committing blasphemy against your God? I merely use your own beliefs against you.

Actually, blueoctagon, a lot of American think so. Just look on this forum to see how many people claim that our government is based around the ten commandments, when in reality the only two that have a place in our law system are "thou shalt not kill" and "thou shalt not steal."

I completely agree with all the points you've made here. It's absolutely idiotic to believe that everything in the bible is applicable in today's society. The Christians readily admit this in some instances, such as the example of the fourth commandment you mentioned, and in the fact that the bible repeatedly condones slavery. Of course these things are crazy; the Christians certainly agree.

Yet when you start speaking of other things, the Christians go crazy because we could *never* contradict what's in the bible, now could we? They need to make up their minds: either they stick with the bible being the ultimate word of law and let people see how crazy they are to believe in slavery and stoning their families for not believing in god, or they have to admit that the bible isn't the final word in our society, and let us actually grow into a nation to be proud of.

Everyone should look at "religion" in a more serious way. Instead of "following the leader" of denominations or even the religion they were raised with. Everyone will believe a preacher or minister and accept their word as truth when they should be finding the truth for themselves! Denominations are wrong, take the catholics for example...they are the most pagan religion out there, their churches are full of pictures and statues that are looked upon to be worshiped, even the pope bowed down to a "mother mary" statue! Can anyone say PAGAN?? Do you know what it really means? Sunday isn't even the true sabbath! It was changed by constantine! Did "God" give him the authority to do this?

Yes, the Bible is for the Seventh-day Sabbath, however that death penalty you talked about was part of the civil law of Israel. Those civil laws do not apply anymore (at least most of it, there are some laws that concern health issues, which is good for us too). Jesus Himself ignore those laws when He forgave the woman caught in adultery. The pharisees and priests brought her up to Jesus to deceive Him. The law of Moses (not the Ten Commandment Law) said that the woman should be stoned to death, and they were waiting for Jesus'answer tramp Him: if He agreed with the death sentence, the pharisees were ready to accuse Him before the romans because the Roman government was the only one who could sentence somebody to death. If Jesus forgave her, they said, He would be denying Moses' law.

However, we know the story: Jesus forgave her, and her accusers left ashamed. Also, in another ocassion Jesus said that He disaproved divorce, but that Moses had allowed the Israelites to divorce from their wives because of their taugh hearts.

So obviously, we know do not kill Sabbath breakers or adulterers, etc. There are other ways to discipline in a democratic government.

Hi, my name is Eunice Saunders....my what a big question! Are you a born again sinner? Are you a strayer from the Seventh Day Adventist Church? You sound like someone who has a grudge against God or His people.........do you mean to sound so against the Bible?

To answer your question.....The ten commandments were written by GOD with his own finger in stone.....

The law that you speak of about the death penalty for breaking the commands of God are in the "laws of Moses" they were written by Moses at the direction of God....to help Moses and the rulers of Israel (and the world) to govern and control the masses!
These are the "laws" that were nailed to the cross of Christ! He paid the penalty of sin for all!

So it is no longer necessary to put to death those who break the 10 commands....never was really as GOD is able to take the breath He gave you as easily as He gave it!

There are many who sin yet no not that it is sin....for those God winks at their ignorance....so you will see Sabbath breakers in Heaven along side everyone else.....cause all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God.....yet all have a Savior who is able to Save if they will accept Salvation! Will you???

Prayers to you and yours, Eunice

The purpose of incarnation on Earth as learning and acquiring skill. When a Soul becomes sufficiently enlightened, it no longer needs to incarnate, and it will not choose incarnation.

By this very nature of the Universe, it is obvious that the majority of Souls in incarnation are immature, or ignorant.

Some parts of the Globe have a higher propensity of less advanced Souls than others.

Please do not challenge nature with such fervence. If you are one of the few with a brain, sit back, enjoy it, and look upon the world with kindness.

If Scalia said that, he was wrong. About 10% of Americans identify as some form of non-religious, and at least another 10% are non-Christian. So he's off by at least 19% to begin with, and I'd be willing to bet that a lot of the remain 80ish% don't follow the commandments themselves.

Well, man. First off, I think it’s great that you actually looked a few things up. And I commend you for that. But you missed a few things, for example: who said Sunday was the Sabbath? What if it’s really like Wednesday? Then we would all be doomed!!! Just kidding man,

But honestly dude, you need to read more. Since Jesus died on the cross we now are part of the new covenant, not the old. In Romans 3:23 Paul says: “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” So based on your theory, all of us are bound for death. But God sent Jesus to pay that price for us.

And back to your question, Romans 14:4-6 says :
Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord. He who eats meat, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God.
So you see man, it’s not what you think. I get where your coming from but you need to do more fact checking before you come to a conclusion. Have more questions? Steelman3_12@yahoo.com

First, that 99% bit is garbage. Instead of saying "most Americans" he says "ninety-nine percent of Americans" to make it sound good.

Second, believing in a thing and abiding by those beliefs aren't necessarially the same thing. Most people believe that eating a healthy diet is the best thing to do, yet it doesn't mean that is what they do.
