This person I know said that both her and her sister were conceived with a sperm donation from two different medical doctors to her lesbian mom, and that back in the 60's and 70's it was common practice for doctors to give their own sperm to patients for the purpose of conceiving a child. I have a hard time believing that. Can anyone enlighten me on that?

Not sure if it was common that late, but it was earlier on. Lots of medical students and doctors donated to the sperm bank too (and still do), so it wasn't necessarily from her treating doctor.

I know someone who was conceived when his father and uncle mixed thier sperm in a container, (because dad thought he was probably infertile but didn't want to know for sure). Back then, late 40's early 50's the doc tossed some of his in as well. He found out later via blood test that Doc is his real dad.

I'm sure its possible, not common practice, but possible. Back then a Lesbian or single woman could not go to a sperm bank if she wanted to get pregnant. Being single or gay and having a kid was a big No No. Some women would simply sleep around till they got pregant or perhaps have a good friend "donate". Maybe she had a Doctor who took pitty or advantage of the situation. Thanx to Rosie O'Donnal it now seems cool to be gay and have kids. Artificial insemination is no big deal anymore.
( I am the adult daughter of a lesbain, we are called 1st generation, but my mom was married and then divorvced while I was still young )

Yes its true in a way, back then sperm donation wasnt done in test tubes. That method of donation now would be malpractice.

Absolutely. Sometimes twice at one appointment if there was time and the waiting room wasn't too crowded.
