do you use conditioner on her hair, and also make sure you rinse the shampoo out of her hair really well. Don't use any harsh or adult shampoo on her. Try using formulas of shampoo made for children, or a moisuturizing shampoo. Also brushing or combing her hair and scalp a few times a day would help loosen it. Don't wash her hair everyday if scalp is very dry, do it every other day.
Tell people like her aunt to mind their own business, unless you ask for her advice, you'd rather not hear it.

I wouldn't use head and shoulders or scalpicin on her hair. If it get's into her eyes while rinsing it, it could be bad.

There are basically two issues here - her aunt's interference, and your daughter's dry scalp. As for the scalp, we have no way of knowing how severe it is, but since you don't seem concerned, it probably isn't that bad. Just for comfort's sake, since dry scalp can be annoying, your family might want to try switching shampoos to see if that can make you all more comfortable. If it only happens in the winter, it probably isn't dandruff, so dandruff shampoos won't help. I love the J. R. Liggett Old Fashioned bar shampoo - it's very gentle and doesn't strip the natural oils (which is what causes most shampoos to lead to dry scalp). Don't shampoo too frequently, especially your daughter, since she doesn't produce much scalp oil at her age, and I doubt you're using hair products on her. Every three or four days is probably more than enough.
As far as her aunt, you really don't want to say anything that will start a feud. It just isn't worth it. Even though she's being annoying as hell, she's doing it out of honest concern for your daughter. Just remind yourself of that before you lose your temper with her. Thank her for her concern, and mean it. Tell her that you're trying some different products that should help. Point out that it's seasonal, which indicates that it isn't a major problem. Then gently let her know that, while your appreciate her concern, it's driving you nuts. Remind her that you love your daughter and would not ignore a serious health issue. Ask her to let you deal with this, and ask her not to bring up the issue any more. Say all of this as honestly and considerately as possible, without being rude.
And finally, consider the possibility that she may be right. There are some skin conditions in children that look like dry scalp that are actually more severe. If it's scabbing, flaking in larger sheets, or causing her distress, you really should see a doctor.

You can use all you want on her head but if it happens to the family don't worry. it's your problem not any one else's. If that does not work. You can go to the health food store and there is a shampoo called grandpa's pine tar shampoo, or what we did when we where kids my mom just used baby oil, this was to put the moister back in the scalp( just a little bit then let sit for about a half hour then wash as normal
Or there is a web site

some people are telling you to use dandref shampoos, but that isn't going to work with dry scalp. If you want to treat her scalp use some vegtable oil and comb the stuff out, then wash her hair. It won't hurt her hair. Tell the aunt to take a flying leap, this is your child and you will do what is best for her.

tell her to mind her business because that's your child and only you have a say so in this and that you appreciate her concerns but if she cant respect what you say then don't commend at all but you should condition her hair more and use a carrot oil or suffer 8 grease for dry scalp or the scalp spray twice a day and braid it up if you can

Just tell her to lay off. Or try using a dandruff shampoo and conditioner when her scalp is dry.

I would get shampoo for dry scalp tell her your using if she has any questions afterwards make it clear you are her mother, you know what is best for you own kid. I hate when people tell you what to do with your kid. They don't give you the chance to raise them without critisim, it's hard enough already. good luck though

My daughter had the same problem with her scalp. My hairdresser told me to use a good dandruff shampoo...massage it into her scalp at night...no water..just let it stay on till morning and then wash her hair. It worked for me...good luck
