Some vegetarians do eat fish, in which case they are called pescatarians. Or you can eat milk products (which cause no death or harm) or eggs, or both. Those are ovo- and/or lactovegetarians.
What you eat is up to you, especially if it is a philosophical decision and not a medical one.
Check out vegweb.com and veginparadise.com (or google "vegetarians in paradise") for good help.

I don't really want to challenge your beiefs but why is eating animals considered animal cruelty. Look at this. If you eat an animal then the animal dies but animals naturally eat other animals so in eating an animal you are actually saving alot of other animals from getting eaten by it. If you don't eat the animal, the animal will go on with its life eating and killing other animals. Animal cruelty will be immortal unless a person could tame all the animals of the world to not eat each other. And if that happens the world will be unbalanced and even more animals will dies. As you could see, being a vegetarian is also indirectly killing animals. So therfore you are support animal cruelty.Anyway back to your question, eating fish is considered animal cruelty to vegeterians and if you are a vegeterian, don't do it. I suggest you quit vegeterianism because i think it is impossible to end animal cruelty and it isn't generally that good for your health. Sorry and good luck

Well, I'm a vegetarian too, but i don't like fish so I don't have to worry about this, but I ate sausage this morning....been the first time in a few years tho...so go ahead, it's hard work maintaining muscle, but you can get the protein from nuts, tofu, and other sources, but if you're still unsure get your doc's approval to take supplements if you don't want to eat the fishies

Fish were put on the planet to be eaten. The big fish will eat other fish and even some plants are carnivorous. Its more about how safe is the enviornment we all live in then it is anything else. Fish live in poluted waters. We breath plluted air. Livestock is fed antibiotics and Genitically modified organisms as diet. So you eat meat at your own risk. But Meat is necessary for certain types of protein and better protein assimilation in general.

Get over your hate of animal cruelty. Animals suffer very little during the butchering process. Jettison the lame, self-righteous, dour, sad-sacked hippy-dippy politics, and then you'll be able to enjoy life guilt-free!
EAT LIKE A MAN TO LOOK LIKE A MAN.
Forget the tofu and wheat grass and bean sprouts. EAT MEAT, IT'S GOOD FOR YOU.

PS: Contrary to what's being said here, meat protien is the best. It is the most complete, and you can't get the proper sequence of amino acids from eating only veggies.
Humans were designed to eat MEAT. Ignore the anti-meat propagandists.

You don't have to eat animal proteins to gain muscles. The kind of muscles you gain by sticking to vegetarian food looks more appealing than the bulk you add by eating meat of any kind.

Of course you can eat fish. You're the one who decided not to eat meat in the first place, so you can decide to eat it. But fish have to be killed just like any other animal, if you want it to eat it.

Your diet is your choice. There are no diet police, so you can eat fish or anything else your little heart desires and you won't be arrested.
I am semi-vegetarian just because - but nothing is written in stone.
