The next 100 years are going to be pretty rough. Look for more storms like Katrina, rising sea levels, melting polar ice caps, etc. We must stop the exponential growth of humans if we want to save our planet. As global warming worsens, wars, famine, infectious disease, and pollution should take care of that. Improved technology will help stop the damage to some degree, but it is also going to take a significant change in our way of life. Like all of the earth's creatures, we must evolve or die. Unfortunately we have made little to no progress in the last 20 years, because of greed and complacency. The time to act is now. I do think the human race and the planet will survive, but the earth will be very different and the human population much smaller for at least a few centuries.

Well my freshman year in college was 1974 and at the time we weren't talking about global warming but the comming ice age. Many of the same knuckle heads forecasting global warming were saying we were headed into another ice age.
So I would look up those articles from the late 1970's, Time Mag had some big articles on it. And decide what lasting damage was done by the ice age that never happened. Then decide what damage will be done by global warming.

My wild guess is that CO2 levels will peak at around 2100. Lasting damage in terms of loss of land which will not be recovered for centuries will be the main one but I do not feel that the problems arising should be insurmountable. Many environmentally friendly technologies will have been established and regarded as mature technologies.

global warming is'nt something that can end easily...it needs a lot of awareness which is yet to be imparted to the public....global warming has already begun and only if prompt actions are taken can be restained from causing further dangers to environment....the world will only become aware once we start facing problems due to G.W....(problems due to black hole, green house effect, rising water levels)

Not in your lifetime - or lifetimes of your grandchildren. There will be tremendous damage to coastal property. See Al Gore's movie on this topic. The Inconvenient Truth/
