best is ask aunt, have a chat with her & tell her your intentions

i've experienced it that they have a sixth sense & they know best
i'm pretty much sure your aunt will come out with an ingenious solution

you could even discuss with her some of the solutions posted, like rubber bands

There are gadgets to help with this, they enable "talking cans". See link for information on different devices and stockists. By the way the quality of meat in dog food has to be fit for human consumption and is usually tasted by a human taster so it will do you no harm and probably has more vitamins and goodness than a Fray Bentos pie ever will.

Get a Post-it note pad - trim off the sticky parts and place them on the dog food tins so that part of the note sticks out slighty and can be detected by your aunt's fingers. Experiment to find the ideal part of the can on which to place the note. It's a cheap, simple and environmentally friendly way to help her distinguish between the two.

Put fuzzy stickers on top of the dog food cans so that she knows that its dog food. Or try putting other things on the cans such as string around the middle of the cans, or something taped to the can so that she can feel the difference.

Why nto move all the dog food to one cupboard and all the human food to another. Or put post it notes on each can of dog food so she can feel the post it notes.

Sometimes a labeler works, something with raised letters. But the easiest thing to do is to keep the two items in different places, like separate cabinets or even separate rooms.

My grandmother used tp buy all the unlabeled cans they used to reduce at the store. SHe knew what everything was by the number of rings on the cans. I didn't study this like she did, so I don't know if it still holds true, but it's worth a shot.
