Don't you think this is a tricky question? Depending on your culture and your home habits, choices can vary quite a bit.
I can only answer what my favorites area, and what people around me where I live usually think to be the best, even when I do not agree. For instance, have you ever tasted Haggis? of Feijoada? depending on who you are, you may love it or hate it.
What would Asian ordinary people think of French cuisine? What would Australia countrymen think about some regional African food? American Geographic has once shown people eating locusts, and some sort of croaches. For the people who are used to it that may be the best of the world, mainly if they are cooked by a respected local chef.

I think the best dish in the world would be whatever one eats after being hungry for a while..........It could be anything really, even a simple piece of bread.

My usual craving, which I don't get that often. A stacked muffaletta piled high with meats and cheeses and olive salad.

I guess it's just those foods that you don't eat that often that are the most memorable!
