I think we would all agree that these are the only one's we have in the English language '2', 'to' and 'too'. So how would I write the question "There are three types of (two, to, too) in the English language". Which (two,to,too) do I use in this case?

There are three words in the English language that sound the same: two, too and to.

There's no need to introduce the "too" sound in the question because "too" is meanlingless. If you wanted to highlight the "too" sound, do it after and use the easiest one to pronounce - I wouldn't choose "two" by the way or you can use the system dicitionaries do: "tū".

there are three types of words in the english language which sound the same when spoken but the spellings are different when written. Two: meaning 2 items. To: meaning to do,ref:to a place or a person. Too:meaning also or more in quantity. If i read your question right, i would say Two.

"There are three similar sounding "twos" in the English language, written as 'Two, To, and Too'."

Which should I use in this case?

Well, neither type actually translates to sound like to, too, or two in another language. The irony is that they all sound the same, but if you translate them, they don't.

You could write them individually to show the difference in meaning, and say them to show the similarity of sound in the English language.
Ex. In Spanish...
En Inglés, dos es "two".
En Inglés, a es "to".
En Inglés, también es "too".

To say, "These three words sound the same in English":
Estas tres palabras parecen el mismo en inglés.

If you need it in another language, let me know.

Hope this helped.

Ooooh now that is tricky!
But can you really say there are three types of 'two', because they are different words, they just sound the same?
