i'm attending a wedding in november in california, the weather is suppose to be around the mid 70s. i've heard to stay away from whites and blacks when attending a wedding and i need to know if this is "too black" for the wedding. i'm considering a black 3/4 sleeve top with a grayish wool skirt and a pair of black pumps. any suggestions are appreciated. thanks.

Try bright harvest-type colors such as gold, green, red, orange; in a soft flowy fabric. Try to find something that has a blend of most of these colors....and don't forget to accessorize. And, by the way....the color black is "out" for funerals today.

I don't think there's anything wrong with wearing black to a wedding - only white. I wore a black dress to my friend's wedding last summer, as did several of my other friends. If you have a nice colored top that would work, you might want to go ahead and wear that, but I wouldn't lose sleep over the black if that's what you have and really want to wear.

i personally think you should add a little more color in. i mean it's in california and it's in the 70's. why not try a black skirt with any color on top? you're going to a wedding and not a funeral, so have fun and enjoy yourself. put some color in your outfit. good luck!

Yeah, black is kind of saved for something more like a very formal event or a funeral. Perhaps you could go with warm, fall colors such as chocolate or burgundy if you want to wear darker colors.

Black and gray are really boring, unhappy colors to wear to a wedding. I have a girlfriend who has absolutely no fashion sense and she came in a gray business suit to our wedding - it was horrifying. She looked so drab and dull. Liven up your outfit and pick something colorful and beautiful to wear - it's a special day, make your dress scream that!

This is a bit somber, perhaps, but also dressy. I'm sure you'll look nice.

Other things to consider are where and what time of day the wedding will be held. On the coast, things can cool down rapidly and it's good to dress in layers.

It's up to you, but I would opt for more color.

Those who wear black to a wedding strike me as people who do not own any dress clothes and can't afford to buy them.
It also tends to look more like business attire as well.

This choice is okay for a funeral, get something nice and soft , pastel colour, it all depends on your hair colour and your ethneticity, currently if you are a Muslim you will have no problem wearing a veil, the choice you have made would suffice

I think it would be fine, but I wonder why you would want to wear wool when it's going to be in the 70's.....

I wore the standard little black dress to my best friends wedding, and it was funny because I ended up being a twin to her other best friend, both of us in little black halter top dresses. It's really up to you.
