Well, I've heard of sanctuary cities (I live in one) , but I guess the term could apply to states as well. There has been a dramatic increase in gang and criminal activity since the illegals began coming here to 'work hard and feed their families'. So no, it's not a good strategy for fighting terrorism. I do understand that this amnesty bill is moving us towards the NAU, and that is the reason for it. There will be no more border security than there is right now. That is why most of our citizens oppose it. I just wish more of them would open their eyes and see where this is leading.

Every administration in the past 20 years has failed to
address the problems of not only illegal immigration but our immigration system as a whole. We should be accepting the best any other country has to offer and not bring more and more poor people into this world. We have enough of our own poor ,under educated.non productive citizens. Why import them.Yes I know that sounds very bad to most people but its a fact.I am not a racists as I'm sure someone will yell,I am instead a realist.I have learned from my mistakes, why hasn't this country learned from its mistakes?
Advocating U.S. population stabilization necessitates a reduction in immigration levels. It is virtually mathematically impossible to be for U.S. population stabilization and against immigration reduction.
The focus on population limits has waned since the 70's even though the U.S. is now the world's third largest country and the world's fastest growing industrialized nation. It is pertinent that Americans understand the true source of growth and be able to link the symptoms to the source.

I believe President Bush has to much on his plate with the economy and the war on terrorism. He's not falling down on the job but can't find the politically correct answer that will work with this problem.
The answer to this problem is simple. Secure the borders. Fine the employers and deport the illegals. But that's politically incorrect because some say it's a form of racism which is BS. All we are asking the illegals to do is to follow the laws of the land voted on and passed by a Congress elected by the people.
Fix your own damn country and leave ours alone!

I do think so.. this is the reason the Republicans are getting some distance from President Bush, they all know that the American people are against the illegal aliens invasion coming across our southern border. This is the reason we the USA have to build that fence with top priority before is too late. The Mexican government is going to try to convince President Bush not to sign the bill for the fence, this is going to take place in two weeks that the elected President from Mexico is coming to Washington and meet with Mr. Bush. We the American people have to be alert about what's going to happened in this reunion.

I don't think the problem is so much "letting people in," as it is giving them the benefits they get without doing anything to obtain them once they show up.
If the U.S. stopped giving hand-outs, free medical care and all of that, a lot less people would show up.
That said, President Bush scores no points from me on any aspect of the job he's doing. About the only thing he's shown himself to be good at is taking vacations.

I think Bush is not just 'falling down on the job' - he's stumbling through without a care in the world. However, the illegal alien situation is not Bush's most important blunder. He has ruined our nation's reputation as a world leader and global peacekeeper by fueling the flames of 'terrorism'.
Remember, unless we are direct descendants of native American Indians, we're ALL 'illegal aliens' whose ancestors who came to this country for a better life, to flee religious persecution, and to live in peace and harmony with each other.
Instead, our European ancestors massacred the Indians who revered the land as sacred, slaughtered the buffalo just for the sheer sport of it all, and squandered much of America's natural resources (which we continue to do today).
It's no wonder so many nations hate the U.S. We're viewed as a 'bully' who wants to take over the world (just as our ancestors 'bullied' the Indians into giving up their land). Why else are the 'terrorist' groups increasing? Because they know that America - even though it represents only 5% of the global population - will squander 55% of the world's resources out of sheer avarice. We are a gluttonous, disposable society that is unwilling to make any notable sacrifices so that the rest of the world can share in some of our bounty. -RKO-

He inherited this huge problem. It would be different, if he had rolled out a red carpet and said, ya'll come!!!
Let's give credit where credit is due. Each person who comes here illegally, should assume the blame for their own crime(s).

I don't think he is merely falling down on the job. I think he has made an affirmative decision not to go after them because he wants 'free flow of cheap labor'.
I honestly believe deciding not to enforce our laws is, or should be, an impeachable offense.

Oh, God....don't get me started on this loser. He is a traitor to the American people, pure and simple. Any so called "president" who would get up on national tv and sell his own people out by saying "they do the jobs Americans won't do" needs to be impeached. Why is it so hard to find a politician who stands up for Americans in America?!!! Jesus!

In my mind, bush's biggest failure is not upholding our constitution or our laws...... so much for this "good christian" swearing on the Bible!
I am so glad to see so many questions referencing the homeland security report..I just hope many people take time to at least scan thru it, if not, read it all!
