My DVD player takes ages to actually play a disc, up to 45 mins of repeat no disc until it eventually plays it. It is only on one multi dvd player and this problem has just started. All my discs play 1st time on my other players and they are all cleaned and looked after. Please don't tell me that i need to replace it, there must be somebody in the trade that can tell me what i can safly do to correct this problem and calm me down as it is wasting a lot of my time getting a disc to play for my kid's.

Try cleaning the actual DVD unit. You can buy a cleaning kit from walmart or just about anywhere. If that does not fix the problem. Then it would be cheaper for U to go ahead and replace the unit. Unless it is still under warranty. Then U can send it back to the manufacturer and they should fix or replace it for you.

You say it is a multi disc player put a disc in all of the holders if it is a single disc player the lens could be dirty. If no luck pick a new one up from asda or tescos or sainsburys supermarkets its cheaper than having it repaired

Unfortunately the cost of getting an engineer to even look at the thing is more than a new one costs.
