Well I have a story to tell about my first pumkin carving experience...I was 9.
Trying to get some LEVERAGE on the knife right, it was stuck in the pumkin...Well my hand/ fingers slipped all the way up the blade...Pinky looked to me like it was just hangin, ring was sliced and middle still has a slight scar too. I freaked out, started screaming and waving my hand wildly... when we got back from the hospital my mom said it looked like a murder scene, My blood was strewn all over our white kitchen, from the floor to the ceiling...HAPPY BLOODY HALLOWEEN!

Oh yeah you cut the dark. trace the pattern, the dark/ black lines...The same as if yop draw it yourself.
And cut it out.
I recommend not letting your unsupervised children use the knife, you know, it could get stuck, and sometimes kids just don't think...And then you too could have a HAPPY BLOODY HALLOWEEN...

Look at the picture that you are taping on the pumpkin...if you cut out the darkened part, would it still look like it's supposed to? If not it's the white part. I'm sorry, I'd have to see the picture in order to tell you. Just cut on the lines and it'll turn out.
