I was told something of a polymer base would work. I am remodeling the inside of my double wide and have took down the strips of the seams at the joining of the drywall but the compound that I was told to use by a local hardware store has cracked over the winter. I followed the instructions carefully now I am back to square one. So if someone knows the name brand of a product that will fill small cracks in walls like the and not split or crack once it is painted over I would appreciate it :)

2 reasons for the crack:

1. in the past i have worked on these and the drywall is not butted tight to each other behind the strips......u need to fill this void with a good flexible caulking first..then after it has dried apply the tape and the 3 coats of mud.....

2. did u apply fiberglass tape? did u apply a bed coat( under the tape) , a second 8" coat 24 hrs later over the tape, and the last coat about 12" wide? if u didnt follow in this order then the mud will shrink and this is the crack....

unless the joint was not taped with paper or fibreglass, you always get hairine cracks in time due to movement, so the patch will hold fine as long as you tape the patchm and then skim coat with the mud.
