OK lets be real, acne's a b**** and it's the worst thing to get over but its not impossible. The best thing out there for it right now is Acutane, but, it is not for everyone that's why it is only obtained by a Dr's prespription. Some people tend to be allergic to the medicine, for a few percentage it does not work for, but usually it does, for everyone, even though after you stop using it the acne comes back, like with every other medicine after the treatment is over. It is really harsh on your body though, for women they can't take contraceptives or have kids due to some serious problems that can occur while taking it, other people experience horrible peeling and dryness.
Apart from all this, i used to have acne, apparently not bad enough for Acutane (according to my dermatologist) but it was still bad (at least i thought it was), so i was recommended this over the counter medicine called "Nature's Cure" (not a home remedy). They have two medicines, one formulated for men, and another for women, and among these they have the topical creams and face washes as well as pills that work from the inside out. I personally tried the cream and face wash. Since i started using it i have yet gotten another pimple, seriously, my face is progressing miraculously, alot of the blemishes are gone, almost all. Smooth skin, it does dry it a little bit but barely, everyone's complimented on it. A few more weeks and my face will be completely clear. To help with this i also get facials done, everyonce in a while to help with the deep cleaning, which helps alot to remove stubborn clogs and blackheads and so forth.
I know not all of these over the counter medicines work for everyone, like myself that i've tried Proactive and Murad and all those things and i actually got my face worse due to them. But this one worked, see if you can find it in a neighborhood pharmacy or drugstore, or supermarket (which some of them also sell them), or online in their website.
About a diet, the main cause of acne is not your diet, eating chocolate or drinking too much soda, it's an old wife's tale, BUT a good diet will prevent excess oils in the skin which will clog pores and cause breakouts.
The main cause of acne are your body's hormones, we can't fix those with a change in diet. For me i go to the gym about 5 days a week, and excercise, this helps your metabolism break fatty acids that may affect your hormone production, as well as providing an overall well being for the body and get you nice and fit, a little blood to the old pump is sometimes the best remedy for current health problems as well as future undeveloped ones.
Stress is another factor that people a lot of the time don't consider, it does affect your acne because too much stress will trigger hormone production in the body and well you know the rest. Try to take life easily, i know sometimes it's hard but you gotta try, for my stress, excercise wipes it all out, and it usually does for a lot of people so think about it.
Well i hope this helps you and good luck with what ever you end up trying.

the only home remedy i know to work is drinking 8 glasses of water everyday. other than that... Clearasil makes a good product. I do not use any facial scrubs or cleansers because i find that they irritate the skin and make my face redder. Instead, i use the Clearasil Acne Control- 'Acne Treatment Cream with Skin conditioners'. This comes in a small rectangular box with a small tube inside. http://www.medshopexpress.com/937551.html
It costs around 2 to 3 dollars and you can find it almost everywhere. I find the skin tone works best although they do have a transparent cream/ I put it on at nighttimes when my face is particularily red and when i wake up in the morning the redness has completely vanished. Make sure you buy the acne treatment cream not the Ultra treament cream because it doesnt work
DO NOT USE SOAP!!! ive gone to different doctors and all have told me never to use ordinary soap on your face. It clogs your pores and causes more acne....I hope your skin clears up really quickly!!!

Here are some natural ways of getting rid of acne:
1. Acne Help Tip # 1 - Plain old vinegar! Apple cider vinegar is used by a lot of people for the treatment of acne. Vinegar is very efficient in cleaning your skin of the extra oiliness and it kills off the facial bacteria which causes the infection. Use a solution ratio of 8:1 water. Apply the solution directly onto the face with cotton and leave it to dry. Rinse after ten minutes.
2. Acne Help Tip #2 – Lemons! The citrus in lemons is an excellent cleanser of the skin. Rub the lemon juice on the face and wipe clean by morning the next day. This will ensure that you have your skin totally oil-free and as healthy as it could possibly be.
3. Acne Help Tip #3 - Egg whites! Egg whites are mainly used as an instant face lift agent. It absorbs extra oiliness as well as helping in exfoliating the facial skin. Take the egg white, beat it until it is well mixed, and apply to the face. When it dries up, a maximum of 15 minutes, rinse it off.
4. Acne Help Tip #4 – Vitamin B5! This vitamin is exceptionally potent in controlling acne. You will need to take Vitamin B5 in dosage of about 10 grams once daily in order to make a big impact.
5. Acne Help Tip #5 – Oatmeal! Oatmeal is a very basic and simple way to have the oiliness on the face absorbed. First, you will need to boil it. When it cools off, apply to the affected area. Remove the oatmeal once it’s dry.

Drink tons of water (at least 8 glasses a day) this truely helps, but it will take a week before u see results. This will truely help though.
For pimples, try mashing 2 strawberries and spreading them on ur face. wait 5 minutes and wash off. The strawberries seeds will slough off dry patches of the pimples and the salicyc acid(which sounds harsh but is very gentle)will erase the blemishes.
For blackheads, mix 1/2 cup of boiling water with a table spoon of epsom salt. Add 3 drops of iodine(or a tablespoon of iodized salt works too). Wait till the mixture cools down, than use cotton balls to dab on blackheads. this will loosen the blackheads so they can be very easily wiped or squeezed off

Try eating onion and garlic. Take a shower at least 2-3 times a day. Brush your teeth at least 2 times a day (in the morning and before going to sleep). Stop taking over-the-counter medication. See your doctor. Drink peppermint and rose hips tea. Walk outside when the weather is good and stay inside during the storm. Don't smoke. Don't drink alcohol. Avoid driving during bad weather. Stay calm. Listen to a relaxing music. Enjoy your life!

Wash your face ONLY with Ivory soap twice a day.
After each washing use OXY pads (extra strength).
Nothing else on your face...that's what my son..and his cousins used and they never got a face full of acne, only 2 or 3 pimples.
But the main point is using Ivory soap...there's nothing in it..pure soap

see a dermatologist.... there are prescriptions for low doses of antibiotics and topical creams that work soooo much better than the "over the counter" stuff.
