I recently gained my Commercial Pilot License, so I should be able to help you.
If you are seeking a a career in the RAF, then your best bet is to join the RAF cadets or the University Air Squadron. The RAF only take on a handful of pilots a year though, so it is fiercly competitive.
If you want to become a commercial pilot, then you have a couple of options. Airlines tend not to recruit people below the age of 21, so if you want to apply for sponsorship schemes then you will have to wait a few years. Your other option is to pay for your commercial pilot license training your self. This is very expensive. You are looking at anywhere between £30,000 and £65,000 depending on the flying school and the type of course you do, and there is no guarantee of employment at the end of it. Have a look at:
http://www.ccat.org.uk
http://www.oxfordaviation.net
http://www.b-f-c.co.uk/
http://www.flysfc.com/new/aboutuscommercial.html
All my friends who I trained with love their jobs, so after all the hard work and expense, most will agree it is worth it.
Also, have a look at this site http://www.pprune.org
It is a professional pilots forum. It is free to join and there is a massive amount of information available. It is used by RAF and commercial pilots, ATC, instructors and cabin crew.
Good luck.

You will not find the answer here, If you are serious you could apply to join the military, who may take and train you for free - if you have the qualifications.
If you are very sincere and feel you have the capability and education qualifications, contact any of the various Airlines.

Hi!
The absolute best way is to join the RAF.
See the world, have a great time, become a man, get paid for doing it and get trained for free.
Nuff said!!

either an airline will take you on after you apply or
you can start by going to your nearest flight training centre and building up hours towards a private pilots licence (ppl).
(approx 40hrs needed)
