it depends on the class/model, however a mercedese is more fancy but a BMW is more powerful.

Apples and oranges. Define Better handling BMW or stronger built Mercedes Benz. Faster acceleration BMW more luxurious Mercedes Benz. You just have to drive both and see what you like and dislike about both cars. BMW 3 series and Mercedes C class cars are at the low end of the price scale. Some times you can do better with Buick V-8 Lucerne or even Hyundai Azzeria. But full upscale BMW 7 series Mercedes S type there are no finer cars out there than the flagship M,B or BMW luxury units.

I am a BMW kinda girl ....... but mercedese can be nice too ...my friends boyfriend has one and it's really nice

Mercedes is not the car it used to be. It has major reliability problems, especially electrical.
If you want a car with all the gadgets that luxury cars are supposed to have and not have the car be in the shop all the time, the BMW is the better car.

They are both really good cars, but if you have the money, the Mercedes is the much better car. It is quieter, comes equiped with the latest safety features, has an engine available that is more powerful. And it is a much more prestigeous car. Resale is a lot better, also.
