If she realizes it handles different than a car. The price, new or used will be higher. Depending on where you live, a 4x4 could be a plus.
Let her test drive a few trucks & cars & see what fits her taste best.

OOOOO I don't know if that's the best thing. I have 2 daughters and while they are no where near 15, I don't know that I'd want them to have a pick-up truck if that is what you're asking.

You said a small truck and I'm going to assume pick-up. There isn't much room for friends inside a small pick-up, maybe only 1 or 2 friends. There will be MUCH pressure to give other friends a ride in the back of the pick-up which can be dangerous and also against the law in most areas.

I'd lean against it if I could help it. But if it were the only affordable vehicle around and my daughter REALLY had her heart set on it I'd probably let her have it..... with a nice lecture.

:)

at that age...most any car is appropriate as long as it is safe. But I like small trucks for young people...

I think it's great that at most they can only carry 1 other person in the truck.... and usually girls run in pairs...lol. leaving no room for boys.

A 15 yr old should just be happy that it's not 25% of a bicycle.

The girl may be paying 25% but I imagine that leaves 75% by mom and dad? I'd say they bought the right to choose.

If that's what she wants.

I personally don't think a 15 year old needs to be driving. I know the laws are the laws, but I think at 15 kids are too immature, irresponsible, and inexperienced to be driving such a powerful thing. It makes me so nervous to know that 15, 16, and 17 year olds are behind the wheel of a car. It's too soon, and they need more training.

Sorry...just my opinion.

Having a child reach driving age is about the scariest thing a parent must face! Think about it this way. If she was in an accident, would you rather her be driving a compact car, or a truck? Besides, girls in trucks are cool!

It is a good idea unless it is a Ford Ranger. They are not safe. They crumble at the first impact and could become a death trap for her. I suggest Chevy S-10, Sonoma, Dakota, Toyota.

It is appropriate however parents rule here. 15 isnt old enough to make the decision alone.

Why does the $ matter. If she pays 100% or if she pays nothing, she is still only 15, therefore the decision should be yours based on one thing: SAFETY. Of course don't be dictatorial about it. Be diplomatic but, foremost, be a parent.
