I have perscribed this for myself. I eat lots and lots but have a hard time actually putting on any weight. While this may sound fantastic to many of you, for me it's quite upsetting as I look really feeble - and working out won't make any difference as there's nothing there for me to burn off or tone!

What do you all reckon

If you are weight training, eat carbs 30 minutes before. A baked potatoe, or a cup of pasta. You will build more muscle when there are carbs in your system. But don't eat hi-carbs, carbs should be about 30% of your diet. Also, see a nutritionist he/she can find out what your exact % should be, and how many calories you should consume.

I think you are wrong to say that working out doesn't make a difference. You would work out to beef up, not to tone down.

Yes, diet helps. Don't load up on unhealthy fattening things though, that's not the way to go. I suggest you look into suppliments too, that way you are doing it right. Carbs, too many, can cause problems. Drink water. You can go to a nutritionist to get more suggestions.

I reckon that you need all of those calories to put on the weight, plus protein shakes to add muscle and bulk to your body. Weight bearing exercises and crunches will help you define your body muscle and muscle weighs more than fat. Go to a gym for a "free week" and talk to the trainer there. They can give you alot of tips on your problem.

I have the same problem and nobody noticed until I was pregnant so my doctor told me to go to Wal-Mart and stock up on foods that are high in carbs and to take multi-vitamins. Also drinking meal supplements inbetween meals will help a little. It helped me gain the weight I needed.

I know that when i've watched shows about make overs and getting into shape, the trainer will tell skinny people, especially guys, to eat ALL THE TIME, and to eat ANYTHING they can get ahold of. within reason of course.

Coupled with weight training. You need to eat atleast 300 calories over your intake needs. so if someone of your age and metabolic rate needs 2500 calories, shoot for 2800 until you start to put on some extra poundage.
