That's an attempt at intimidation (which I'm not susceptible to). Very ungodly.

Well if they were real Christians they would know better than to try that. There is no hell, it was created during the dark ages (around 400 to 600 AD ) by the then governing body of Europe, the Roman Catholic Church. Most early scriptures simply refer to what is called the final death or last death. The meaning of which is simply put, you don't go to heaven, your soul just ceases to exist (absolute death). The very idea that an all powerful, all loving, all forgiving God would even think to torture his own children for eternity strikes me as a bit much. Consider that most human parents would not torture their own children for committing a crime, what does that say about God as a parent? As for scaring people into following Christianity, if anything, it makes them look foolish.

Problem with christianity is that theirs is a messiahnic religion. they know how the psychology of the masses. they are afraid of something very bad and are always in hope. so hell and heven are created. Heaven gives them a hope that they will be enjoying if they are good and if they are bad then in hell they will suffer.
An intelligent man will never fall prey to these. churches and their members always try to intimidate an intelligent man from going against thier age old traditions. these churches need more people to grow. even a single individual can bring them down like the twin towers. they are afraid. what will happen if a man tells the truth. Galelio did it. church had to silence him. what galelio said is truth. holdy bible and church were proved wrong - during galelios time and now during this age.
when a person is intimidated into being a christian he is not a true christian. that is the problem with christianity. its an ungodly act. the whole purpose is for numeric strength. its a numbers game.

A true Christian should not be using intimidation to get people in their faith. Our responsible as Christians is to use the Bible to give people hope and from there, a person has to make up there minds what they want to do. Hell is a Greek word meaning the "common grave" not a fiery place of torment.

I don't condone Christians who attempt to spread the word of the Lord through fear. Unfortunately, these are the people who are not focusing on the true message and simply the parts that are "fearful".

Don't let these people shape your entire view of Christianity. If you have an interest, do some research for yourself to get a more rounded viewpoint.

Fear is a way of controlling people. At school I studied the book Lord of the Flies by William Golding. Its about these boys who get trapped on an island all alone, no adults.

Of course they fight over leadership. One boy invents the story of a horrible monster (Satan as an example) and that by doing as he says the monster will not harm the other boys. They all believe in the monster of course (these are like 8-12 year olds) except for a few boys who don't believe in it because a) it wasn't logical that there really is a monster and not something more realistic and b) they weren't followers who followed mindlessly without making their own opinions first.

A good metaphor for the church and religion I think.

True Christians are not trying to scare anybody "by means of hell".
Being a Christian means loving and being loved by the one true GOD. Those that say they are Christian and try to use intimidation are missing out on the graces of GOD. GOD wants us to come to Him willingly and with open arms...not out of fear. I pray that you are blessed with understanding and realize that GOD loves you no matter if you are Christian or not...

The good news is the gospel. It is all about Jesus who paid the price for you and died in your place. Your sins are atoned for thanks to Jesus Christ and his atonement is available free of charge because God loves you even though you are a sinner. god knew we were sinful creatures before he created the world it was his plan to come to the world and pay the penalty of death for all who would accept him. the story of Jesus is a positive story of salvation...I'm not sure why any Christian would teach it as if it were a horror story. Many prefer to preach fire and brimstone rather than the grace of God provided by Jesus Christ.God is righteous and sin does have a death penalty attached but god is also merciful and has willingly paid the price for all who accept his atonement of their sin.

They don't think they can scare you. Though, some Christians are so bold and annoying when they should be quiet and mind their own business. It actually says that in the bible!
