OK. So, Im on a mission to try and talk to guys that Im interested in when I go out. I, like a lot of people, have not guts when it comes to talking to guys I like. The problem is, I get a lot of guys coming to talk to me (mainly jerks who just want to get laid) that I am not interested in. My theory is, the nice guys I want to meet may not be the type of guys who will come talk to me, so I need to make a move to get what I want. Now.....my question. Whats a good way to start a conversation with a guy? I know I cant just prance right up and say "Hi, my name is..." How can I get a feel for if theyre interested before I jump in?

Try asking them if they want to play pool if there is a table in the bar- If you don't play ask if they'll show you how to - Most will gladly coach you.
Ask them what a sporting result was since your Brother/ Father/Uncle follows and has placed a bet.
Could ask where they got an item of clothing - You need to buy a present for Brother/Father/Uncle...

I've been around women who, as stealth as they try to be, will listen in on a conversation and give their input...an ice breaker so to speak. It's hard to pick out of a crowd who's "nice" and who isn't and by trial and error, eventually you'll find someone "nice". There's never any harm in just approaching someone and introducing yourself...conversations usually progress from there. Here's a question...how do you think the "nice" guys get the girls? You seem pretty cool and know what you want, I'm positive that you'll find someone special soon. Take care.

To be frank, you can't really tel if a guy is interested in you unless you jump in and start talking to them. You must first feel that it's okay to talk to guys. Do not, worry if they will like you, do not worry if they will respond to you. Just be yourself and engage in a good conversation with them.
When you are over the phobia, you will then be more ready and natural in talking to boys.

Thats where you are wrong...yes you can walk up and say HI my name is... then find something to talk about. Or maybe say... thats quite a shirt you got on....where did you find it...get him talking then tell him your name... he'll reciprocate.
Don't micro-manage!
