I am from Malaysia, and planning to visit Germany for 6-7 days during the month of December 2006. I heard a lot about the black forest but, had no idea where to go to see the best of it. Does anyone is helpful enough to advise? If i stay at Wurzburg, Bavaria, is it accessible to the black forest?

The town of Offenburg in Baden-Wuerttemburg is right smack in the middle of the black forest. You see a lot of it it you take the train from where you are to say Freiburg or Strassbourg. In the winter is will be cold but stop in the towns for the Christmas markets. Stuttgart has the biggest. From Stuttgart it wouldn't be to far to get to Offenburg. In Baden-Wuerttemburg it is worth it to go to one of the hotspring baths (baden means bath). I went to one that was really nice and you could swim outside in the winter and still be warm as long as you stayed in the water.

I am sorry to tell you, but the Black Forest is in southwestern Baden-Württemberg. However if you want to travel the extra distance then go to Freiburg. You can look around the city and experience the nature as well. The Schauinsland and the Feldberg are pretty impressive. I also suggest going to the Kaisersthul. They have different hiking trails to choose from and it's very beautiful there.

I lived near stuttgart, the best place to visit the Black Forset, It is really cool, with high trees. There is no best spot to see it but it would be a birds eye view. Hope you have fun, I did.
