You are absolutely right if you think that religion is your way of feeling God. But a religion is more than feeling. It is based on experience and revelations which a deeply God conscious saint experienced and devised ways and means to understand and feel God in the easiest way for his disciples and devotees.

While ultimately it is only through your feelings that you will reach the God consciousness, a religion is still required as it provides a common frame work for many to follow with different personalities and from different strata of society

Religion should be a real aspect of one's life, not just some cold recitation like calculus or whatnot, so in that sense I agree with you. One can learn all of the prayers and saints and doctrines, and read all of the scripture, but still not be at all religious.

It is also important to note that religion is not just a feeling, because the central purpose of religion is to teach us that we should strive to learn the truth instead of serving our feelings. We do have to learn things, like what the Truth is, how to serve others, and how to act in a moral way. But it would be nice to feel a personal relationship between oneself and a deity.

My widespread quote on the undertaking of religion is from Mr. Penn Jillette. "i'm previous atheism, i do no longer in basic terms no longer have self assurance, I actual have an somewhat perplexing time believing that different individuals have self assurance." i'm paraphrasing, yet you get the assumption. i think in simple terms like Penn. i will see which you're clever adequate to have come to an identical end. each and all the hypocrisy and each and all the double communicate, and the theory that God is a bureaucrat who stands on protocol and technique (like baptism) mutually as on a similar time being all-powerful, those issues do in simple terms no longer make sense. faith aspects a feeling of community, it aspects some convenience for people who concern dying, in this that is not all undesirable. regrettably, it additionally aspects justification for unjust habit and unfounded critiques, in this it incredibly is somewhat undesirable. you will locate how stupid it incredibly is inspite of the indisputable fact that. you does not have asked this question in case you probably did no longer. I actual have got here across that the final path of action is to handle religious human beings such as you will possibly with an inventive newborn. whilst that newborn runs as much as you and says he's an area alien you do no longer ingredient out to him each and all the excuses he could no longer in all threat be an area alien. you say "Ohhhhh, wow, that is incredibly neat" and you pass approximately your organization. If that individual same newborn says that he's an area alien and his race is going to smash the earth, you do a similar ingredient, and you do no longer take a seat up at night thinking while you're secure. do no longer situation, you're secure. there is not any hell, yet there is not any heaven. delight later on right here. unfold some exhilaration, have a drink, get laid. no person is staring at, and no individual who concerns incredibly cares.

Yeah, I sort of agree with you. I don't think you HAVE to study religion to know it properly, and you certainly don't have to study Jesus to know him. Or thats what I belive, because I believe the spirit is in us and that if we listen to it then we 'know' him. On the other hand, it can be really difficult to know whether you are listening to the spirit or your own agenda (and some people wold dispute that there is a difference).
The point I'm trying to make is that whilst we shouldn't need to study God, it can be helpful to come together for fellowship and study. But ultimately, any real belief is your own decision. If it is indoctrinated then it isn't your own belief.

Being a Christian, I don't really agree. However, I know that people have come to church, read the bible, know about God etc and this is never because they thought "oh yeah, that sounds like a good idea" there is always something that makes them want to, i.e. God acting first in their minds.

My opinion is that people who just go with the "live for yourself, just don't hurt anyone else" idea are seriously missing the point...

I would never force my beliefs on someone, but i would urge them to consider them...

I think it should be both.

It should be something you feel -- because it needs to come from the heart with sincerity.

But it also should be something we learn because religion does give people a lot of code of ethics and way of life. And in most cases people follow these ethics in their daily life.

So I think both. With feeling alone, you wouldn't know what your religion is about. Or with just learning and no feeling, there is no point. Both, both, both....

I agree 100%. look into yourself for the answers not a book or a bunch of fairy-tales. Only you have to walk the path you choose so only you can take the 1st step. Never close your mind and never be disrespect full to others beliefs but don't caiter to them either. Be strong and do what YOU feel is right for you.

We have a personal covenant with God that openings all that we are...even feelings...to His love. Religion is the human way to gather and study this concept of a loving God. Learning is not a bad way to go.

No, you have to go to church and get brainwashed, so you can sound like a nutcase : )

Also you must throw 10% of your earns away,
so the pastor can afford that brand new car he wants.
Or if your Catholic, they can pay for those pesky lawsuits and move him too a new church
It disgusting, but that's what happens.
Nasty priests need to be neutered!
